Long night..
So its been a long night. Had fun chatting with Gordo. He rocks. I won and sold another entry to the Sunday 1M. I think this is my third. So not bad. Gets the Stars bankroll up over 600. I stayed even on FT tonight. I lost a HU because of a bad connection. I won a HU. I played a PLO8 game and made two bad calls. Dummy. So I got fed up and pushed when I knew I had no chance in hell of winning and got ready for bed.
Fluxer had the night off so I played a little without him. He would be so proud:

I am getting like 4-1 on my call here so why not see a flop? I have no problem here since I am last to act and know it will only cost me five more. I can easily get away from this on the flop too.
*** FLOP *** [Tc 5h 2s]
OMFG! I suck! I KNOW I am up against HUGE PAIR and I KNOW I am going to make money. Do I slow play this? Fuck no! ALL IN BABY!

The Ace on the river scared me a little but I was hoping he did not have AA. One of these times I will lose but I am wayyyyy ahead on my tiny cards when they flop two pair so far..

That my friends is why you play small cards. Not all the time. If you go down that path you will surely lose. I think in some ways you need a random number generator.. and you factor in the pot, and how many players, how big your stack is, and it chooses a percentage of time to play these small cards. It spins the wheel and you play or do not play. Not based on any great read or special feeling.. just randomly and IN POSITION!
Small cards pay off on sites like Pokerstars at these limits for one reason: ACE TEN WOULD HAVE PUSHED THERE TOO! Not me mind you. However I can not tell you how many times I have seen AT push all in there and get CRUSHED by QQ. So when you actually do hit a hand people are more willing to pay you off.
I also have to laugh at "Value Betting" people. I have seen people with the nuts just put 1-2 bucks in on each street. Oh goodie. My nuts made me ten bucks. I am a superstar! Get paid people! If you bet HARD on your great hands AND great draws then you will make the optimal amount of money. Nobody will be able to tell which one you have. They will probably just leave the table because they KNOW they are outclassed. heh. I actually had someone call me "POKER GOD" yesterday.. that was pretty cool. Do you think he was kidding?

Anyone who’s slowplaying bottom two pair is just giving money away. That hand is so vulnerable that you need to play it fast as all hell. You’re all-in was definitely the right move there.
With that said, you gambled and got ridiculously lucky here. Is 5-2 off even a hand? You’re basically calling a raise hoping for a A-3-4 board or some miracle two pair or trips. But hey, any two cards can win, right?

You should bronze this post.
5:48 AM
Then again, AT would have crushered the QQ and the 52 by rivering a better two pair.
That said, I agree that making these plays from time to time is a profitable endeavor.

Remind me not to EVER play in a cash game with you. Seriously, I would have been CUSSING up a storm if I was the pocket queens guy. Why weren't you in the WWdn last night? Too busy playing 5 2off I guess:)
7:02 AM
Playing Loose-passive preflop is only profitable if you'll get paid off when you hit (basically you're card catching).
If the Queens fold more often then not you are losing a lot of money play this loosely.

The only reason I called the 3$ is because I did not think I was going to be re-raised behind by the last guy in.. I also called the 5$ re-raise because that smells like Pocket Pair and that is what you want in these situations AND I was getting 4-1 on my five bucks which is +EV.
I agree with all the comments.. If I play every hand like this pre-flop then I am going to lose. Period. You can not hit enough to make it pay. The concept is to mix it up.
The other important concept is getting paid off. You push with what you are pretty sure is the best hand so your opponent has to make a decision for alot of money.
Drizz -- I have done this a few times against bigger pairs and EVERY SINGLE TIME if there are all unders on the board I have been paid off in full. Like I said in the post, people playing .50/1 NL ring are for the most part not able to get away from that kind of hand.
Carmen -- Ya I was busy 52'offing.. heh. I actually left work about 5 minutes too late and missed the registration. ug. See you at the Mookie tonight!

Getting 4-1 on your money with likely pot equity of 10-13% isn't much of a bargain.
Calling off 10% of your stack pre-flop with 52o isn't a recipe for success.
Shoving all-in on the flop and potentially driving out hands like 99, JJ, QQ is likely -EV when they're the aggressor and drawing to two outs.
Not learning from your mistakes is definitely -EV.
8:34 AM
I really dont think driving out hands like 99/JJ/QQ is a bad thing.. especially when people see you playing hard with draws and the like.. it gets really hard for them to know what to do and they have to make BIG decisions which causes pressure which causes mistakes.. I like shoving all in here alot.
The pre-flop play was a bit too loose but once I called the three bucks I kind of put myself in that situation.. If it was $8 cold I would have folded..
I have won a hell of alot more money in cash games lately playing weird cards that nobody puts you on than I ever did as a tight ass AA playah. EVER.

"I have won a hell of alot more money in cash games lately playing weird cards that nobody puts you on than I ever did as a tight ass AA playah. EVER. "
Long term dude, long term.
9:28 AM
Exactly Artist! If I keep getting paid off so HUGE how can I not make out long term? PEOPLE CANT FOLD = +EV. I assume people at higher levels would be better at folding and negate this type of play somewhat.. but at 100/NL its Gold Jerry! Gold!
10:36 AM
Obviously you're being completely results oriented here, which makes it look like a profitable play. But, you're falsely assuming you're going to stack someone each and every time you flop big. I can't believe that it'll happen enough for this to be a profitable play long term, which is what the guy above me was trying to say.
I'm all about mixing up your play, but if you're relying on flopping big to win most of your money, you're not really becoming a better player, you're just catching lucky, man.

I really love all the debate these hands cause.. It seems like I get responses from both sides of the street: The "No this sucks" and the "Yeah, I do that too". Both sides seem to contain winning players. Only time tells in Poker. However I really can not see anyone playing .50/1 poker folding to my big bet with over pairs. It is just too profitable against most players at that level. Even if they do I still make some money and adjust my game to steal more pots.
