Thanks Weak!

My luck is still down. The only thing I seem able to win at is cash games. I went out second in the WWDN. Thanks to Weak for going out first! I misplayed my hand HORRIBLY. I basically turn a set of sevens, check, because I assume he is going to bet, then when he makes the straight on the river. I have a feeling I am totally beat. Instead of calling his 120 bet I raise him, and then when he pushes all in, I call. umm.. Ya. Way to go Sir. I was kind of thinking he had two pair but no, he rivered the straight.

I played some PLO8 tourney on FT. I flop a set of tens. Get someone all in on the flop, and his AAKx hits a runner-runner straight. Ummm. Sweet. At least I did not play that one wrong.

Oh well. There is always tomorrow.

Texas is Stuuuuupid

The next honorary blog of the month goes to… Texas from ThisIsNotAPokerBlog. Why? Probably because she whined the loudest in the last post. I tried to find some past posts on Texas but either blogger sucks at searching or I really never had anything good to say about her. Texas and I go back a few years.. to the old Party Poker blogger tables.

Actually Texas is one of my favorite bloggers. Her game has improved drastically since I last played her. I remember back in the old days I was usually able to muscle over her and make her fold. Not anymore. Somehow she developed some backbone over the past few years and has turned into a tough player. I now need to employ other techniques to bust her like I did in the WWDN last Thursday.

I always tease her about Texas. Here is the full transcript for you April and a few lines that I enjoyed.

Patrick: Yeah, what’s so great about dumb ‘ol Texas. [the bus backs up quickly and Sandy steps out]
Sandy: What did you say?
Patrick: [scared] Texas is dumb? [the bus leaves without Sandy]
Sandy: Don’t you dare take the name of Texas in vain!
Spongebob: You mean we can’t say anything bad about dumb ‘ol Texas?
Sandy: No, you can’t!
Patrick: Well, can we say people from Texas are dumb?
Sandy: No, you can’t! No, you can’t say nothing about Texas! [Sponge catches on to something]
Spongebob: Oh, so we shouldn’t say anything bad about [mockingly] Texas!
Sandy: I’m warning you, Spongebob!
Spongebob: Hey Patrick, I’m Texas! [grabs his pants and moseys in a circle] Duh, howdy y’all! [repeats]
Patrick: I’m Texas too! [does the same moseying] Get a dog, little longey. Get a dog little longey… [Sandy’s really mad]
Sandy: Y’all best cut it out! [Spongebob sings horrible Western while Patrick does armpit noises]
Spongebob: The stars at night are dull and dim whenever they have to be over dumb old stupid Texas! [Sandy is really steaming, Spongebob has converted his body into the shape of Texas] Hey Patrick, what am I now?
Patrick: Um, stupid?
Spongebob: No, I’m Texas!
Patrick: What’s the difference? [the two laugh, Sandy drops her bags]
Sandy: Y’all best apologize, or I’ll be on you like ugly on an ape!

We always have the best conversations at the tables though, like this excerpt from one of our first Razz games ever:

Texas: i have no idea what i'm doing
SirFWALGMan: me either
SirFWALGMan: this is lowball texas
SirFWALGMan: flushes and straights dont count
Texas: like at ALL?
Texans: he won b/c he had an Ace, right?
SirFWALGMan: prolly
Texas: lol
SirFWALGMan: Ace = Low
Texas: you are so freakin helpful
Texas: where is Felicia when we need her?
Texas: ummm
Texas: what about quads?
GameC: lol
Texas: they worth anything?
GameC: That's generally bad. . .
Texas: can i take these cards to a NL table?
SirFWALGMan: Texas is wild!
Dealer: Texas shows 6,5,4,3,2
Dealer: Texas wins the pot (359) with 6,5,4,3,2
SirFWALGMan: Are you in collussion with Texas?
innocent5: raising with kings showing
innocent1: hell
Texas: Can a girl get some credit for her nice hand???
SirFWALGMan: its low ball.. lol
SirFWALGMan: that hand rocked
innocent1: what is the object
innocent4: it was vn
SirFWALGMan: thats why I folded
innocent5: haha
Texas: thank you
Texas: see Sir...we're spreading the word about poker
Texas: isn't that what WE DO?

We have also played some Omaha together:

Texas: i don't get this game at all
SirFWALGMan : its a low variance game..
Texas: i thought i had a flush
Texas: i only had 2 pair
Texas: i think it was that whole 2 of my cards thing

See a pattern here? She did not know how to play ANY poker games.. however since then she has learned a lot and even hosted a HORSE tourney on FT. Way to improve yourself and keep it up. I guess the other pattern back then was me playing her in every game she did not know to boost my bankroll.. hmm.. maybe there is a reason I like her so much.

So enough with the teasing.. she runs a great blog, has become a great player and Ya’ll should head on over and check out her spread if you have not done so yet. *snicker* I said spread.

Well the cats out of the bag, I will be turning older on the 8th of March. Just to remind me that I have more wrinkles than a Sharpee, YoSoyVeneno has decided to throw a poker party.

Still Running Poorly

The week has not gone very well. Both of our Frogs have died. My wife wanted to just replace the first Frog that died immediately but I think it cheapens his existence. Instead I took him out back and buried him. We have a nice gravestone that my son can visit whenever he wants to. We both said words over the frog and he cried a little. I think it worked out well. Our second frog died and he is buried next to the first one. I have been reading up and I am not so sure fish and frogs mix. Frogs tend to be a little more delicate in an aquarium environment. Thanks for the bad advice Fish Nerd! Freaking Petco. To top it all off my daughter, yeah three is cute, threw a marble at the fish tank and broke it. A leak started up so I spend half the night transferring fish to a new Aquarium. At least the Aquarium itself was pretty cheap compared to the kit I originally bought. Pretty soon I am going to get another Aquarium from a guy at work who is giving one away and build a home for some larger, more land based frogs. Hopefully these will do much better.

I am still getting crushed in every SNG I play. I basically have only won one game in the last week and a half. It is getting on my nerves a little, although the 1080 cash kind of soothes things over a lot.

So after losing a few games tonight I decided I would switch to a cash game. Garth was playing on Full Tilt. I did not ask him what limit. So I sit down on a 100/NL table with my entire Full Tilt bankroll and prepare to kick some ass.

It was a blast.. I was helping put one guy on tilt which was fun. Unfortunately he only lost one buyin. The night was pretty mediocre. I called an all in with AK vs 55 and luckily the river double-paired the board and caused his fives to be worthless.

I like a hand I played against weak. I had nothing, but I sensed his half-pot bet meant he had shit too, so I re-raise him another half-pot with my flush draw. He folds like.. well, a weak_player. lol. I taunted him a bit and he said he would play the exact same hand with a monster and bust me. Ohhhkay.

The one good hand of the night though was when some tool buys in for $40. He plays a few hands. Is a little aggressive. I have pocket eights and I limp. The flop is T23 and the guy does not seem to have the ten. So I bet pot. The turn brings an seven. The board is now two flush and one over. So I pot it again. The river is a jack, no club, so what does the guy do? Pushes in! He has a four and a busted flush draw. I win. I felt he was totally bluffing so I called.

He then spent a while berating me. I told him it felt wrong. He said he would play the exact same hand with a monster and bust me. Ohhhkay.. Here is my thinking on this hand:

A. It is a cash game. As long as you are staked properly (which I am not but go with me), it is just one buyin. So if I lose a buyin to a read that is off then so be it.

B. Trust your reads. I can not say this enough. Unless your instincts are totally wrong sometimes you need to trust yourself to make the right move. Your brain is calculating millions of variables and coming up with the best match. Sometimes even if you do not know why it is right to call.

C. Buyin for an entire buyin. If I had to call an 80$ bet instead of a 28$ bet on the river it might have had me second guessing or waiting for a better hand. As it was I had no reason to fold, pot odds to call, and a feeling I was ahead.

Anyway, I could have waited for a better time. I could have just been a NUT hunter, but that is not my style. I like to outplay people like certain other bloggers I know. I may not be great at it yet but it sure feels good..

I thank you so much Poker Goddess! It is much more fun to be on your good side. All I can say is this happened at a good time! Oh, btw, the hand that got me the win. I push with 33 he calls with 44. I draw out a flush on the river.. Yes, the bad luck has left.

Speed Blogging

Did I invent a new term? I might be the only speed blogger besides that Day Trader Poker guy. Can not find his link this second. IMS +4.05 made 100$ on 5 Blocks. I do not know what the hell he is talking about but it sounds really fucked up! Mixing Day Trading and Poker! Now that is the life!

Speed Bloggin - Firing off rapid posts of short content in succession until your readers bloglines choke and die.

This entry is something I have been meaning to say for a few day: WAY TO FUCKING GO WIL WHEATON!!! Now why would I say this? He lost right? Yes. However he did EXCEPTIONALLY
well in a TOUGH TOUGH field of professionals. So good for you man. I am virtually patting your back, or shaking your hand, whichever makes you less nervous. Keep it up.

Descent into Madness

It has been the week from hell. I hate it. I know I am one big win away from wiping my brow and saying "Oh, well, it was not that bad".. however I continue a whole week of losing ending up with two days of no wins at all.

It is funny how losing stays on your mind. It makes you frantic. It is always there in the back of your mind. Slowly. Driving. You. Insane.

I did have a nice suckout last night. However that does not make my faith in poker any stronger. Actually it makes it alot weaker if anything. A guy limps with pocket queens and then pushes on a JJQ flop. Now I would like to beleive I am good at reading people but that play made no sense to me. Luckily I had a Jack. I for whatever reason put him on Q5. Yes. That exact hand. Why? What other possible reason would you push unless you were afraid of something? It was a nicely laid trap Possibly AA? I have no idea. Anyway, the trap was set, I fell right into it, and the river J for Dems Quads Biatches! Sends him crying home to momma. I blame my taking his whole stack on his unconceivable play.

I ended up giving it back when the flop comes 9xx. I have pocket queens and had raised a decent amount pre-flop. I bet out ten on the flop. One guy folds the other guy calls. Now I am not sure where I am at all so I bet out another ten. In hindsight I should either have checked or pushed here. The river comes a low card. check-check. He hit his runner-runner straight with 95o. Nicely played. He said he had the money. Not if he keeps playing that way.

So what's a girl to do? I have no idea. I hope the Poker Gods come back to my side and give me some of that winning feeling that most of February was .. or at least some equality of cards. I kid you not that I have been beaten when 90+% on the turn in WAYYYYYYYYYYY too many hands this week.

In other news a change of venue has been scheduled for the Kat Fight. It will be happening on Stars. IM me and I will invite you to the chat. It starts 12:00EST tomorrow. Be there!

ZeeJustin Banned

I read from a Tale of Two Sevens that ZeeJustin was banned from Party and had six accounts frozen. There is also a 2+2 forum chat that seems to confirm this. It is a shame that great players like this, and I have no doubt this guy has more skill than I may ever have, need to cheat. I wonder if he will come out and say something about this? It appears as if all the big sites are cracking down hard and anyone who has used multiple accounts in the past should be removing money from there accounts now. Although I think the smart, bigtime, players probably only keep a fraction of there bankrolls online in any one site. It really bothers me when people enter a tourneyment multiple times. I can see having a secret account to foil PokerTracker but things like this are really bad for other high stakes players. It probably effects me very little since the tourneys he plays in and the ones I do have different groups of people. I am glad the online sites are taking this seriously though.

** UPDATE: Here is ZeeJustins response. It seems like he wants to justify his actions too much.. probably a personality trait, I.E., Ok, I did something wrong BUT the world is out to get me and it's not really my fault anyways and everyone else does it too. I am sure he is probably a nice guy and all but he did something wrong and he has paid for it now.

A good night for a change..

I busted out of Titan. Lost another $30 on Stars. However it was a great night. I was deep into the WWDN, 12th of 17 or something, and had a decent chip stack of about 2K, and I pushed all in with "The Hammer". I got called by TT and while I improved I did not improve enough. But you know what: That was the most fun I have had playing poker all week. So 72o rules in my book.

** Oh Yeah, and I almost forgot, Busting April: Priceless.

You cant make this stuff up..

Paul Phillips had an interesting article today. I knew I should have copywritten my marriage contract! Dammit!

Since we are posting useless shit, I will live blog my internet searching. Here is a weird Sir Waffles page.. What the hell are these people all smoking crack cocain and tripping out on a web page? I can not figure it out..

What a cute little Waffles!

You guys seem to like these ones..

Do you remember this comment from May of 2005 Sir! Do you! Huh! Do you! I shall not forget this smite!

Nice blast from the past

I was reading through the usual blogs and noticed that SirFWALGMan posted that he had nearly busted out his entire bankroll ($3,000) over the past couple days. I actually watched him play a couple times at the 5/10 6max tables and cheered him on. The other day I noticed he wasn't playing his usual 5/10 6max, but instead was playing a 10/20 6max table. He looked to be playing a lot of hands, calling down with marginal hands that most likely weren't winners. I knew something was wrong and messaged him about what was going on. He claimed he was tilting and blowing his money, this was exactly what he was doing and it hurt to look at. He knew what he was doing but didn't want to stop even after I told him he should. There's a lesson to be learned from him and many others that have gone through the same thing as he has. Poker is not just about playing cards, at the same time, it has a lot to do with bankroll management. On top of that it can do crazy stuff to your head and that's what he went through. You need to be able to control yourself, stop when you're supposed to, and continue when you're supposed to.

- Poker It's Life

Took me over a year to feel like I was over that one day. You never really get rid of the motivations that cause you to melt down. It is just a matter of changing your attitude and reactions to those motivations. I am still working on it but I think I have made some progress this year.. we will see.. The interesting thing is that this guy stopped blogging. I do not know if he got bored of blogging, Poker, or both, or maybe had a bad day.. who knows?

Last night I hopped on Party Poker to work off 500 hands for a monstrous reload bonus. I sat down at a $25 NL table to get my feet wet. Instantly, I had Phil from Studio Glyphic sweating me. He mentioned something to SirFwalgman and the next thing I knew it... I had two bloggers at my table. That was the first time I got to play with SirFWalgman and I was pumped to final cross paths at the cyber tables. Within a half hour, Maudie from Poker Perspectives and HDouble from The Cards Speak both joined us, and Derek was on the rail. Two nights ago I got to play with Iggy from Guinness and Poker and Al Can't Hang for a bit. It felt good to play with my peers after a long hiatus.

- Dr. Pauly

This was the first meeting between me and the good Doctor. Those were the good old days. I would sit down at a 25/NL table to decompress after a night of 3/6 or 5/10 or whatever the hell I was playing with my uber stack. We had a lot of fun!! Hell, what am I talking about, we still have fun kicking each other in the balls. I am getting all teary eyed now. *sniff*.

Flash to the Past.. Just for my Readers

What a bad night. It was kind of good and kind of bad. I definatly went on tilt again. It was not as bad of a tilt as in the past though. I think I did pretty good considering the night I have had. Bankroll is intact.

So it starts out with an SNG. AA vs 44 all in. Flop is a four and thats it for me. Second SNG, TT vs A4. Ace on the flop. Goodbye to me. I then start playing poorly and lose a 10$ PLO tourney.. basically just sickened by the cards and pushed when I knew I was likely behind. So down thirty clams fast.

I decide to do something I rarely ever do. I stopped playing and went to get some food. I then came back. I played another SNG on Stars and Paid Trauma back some money I owed him from the first HU Challenge. SO I am down $65 by now. Down over $95 in two days. Ouch. I hate that. Hope you choke on that 25 Trauma. (Just Kidding! You know your my favorite absentee blogger).

So then I go to Titan poker. I am steaming by now and do not want to destroy my Stars bankroll anymore. Just the bad calls and stupid plays getting to me. It gets hard being ahead so often and losing. Sorry. I am good and have the worse luck. It is true. Ask Trauma!!!

So Titan went something like this..

Lose a 20/3 SNG.

Play Blackjack and win $40.

Lose a 20/3 SNG and a 10/1 MTT. I actually did well in the MTT until I had JJ. Raised 1/3 a guys stack pre-flop. He calls with A5. A99 flop. I do not make the easy fold. Mostly because I am steaming like crazy by now.

Win $70 in Blackjack.

Lose $30 at 3/6 limit.

Win $70 in Blackjack.

You get the idea. The blackjack tables have been good to me lately. I play 1 hand every once in a while and either win or lose. Mostly win. Flipping a coind is fun!

Ended up making twenty bucks on Titan for the night. All on Blackjack.

So I take another break. Something I rarely ever did in the past. I then come back and decide that it is not my night and I decide to do something else I have rarely done. I decide to play 5$ SNGs. My night was going to shit so I decided to lose slightly less at a time. I played a 45 person SNG which I lost to an ok play. It did not suck but it was not great. I settled down into a 27/person SNG and finally ended up in second place. I should have taken first. Here is how the hand played.

I have some junk hand like J2. The flop comes 24T. Now I bet out and I KNOW I am ahead. Because I am scary good. I get cold called. The turn is a T and I PUSH about 10K of my 15K stack into the middle. So basically I have pushed most of my stack bluffing at a ten, having third pair, and pretty sure I am ahead. When he calls my heart sinks. I still can not put him on top pair but he must have second pair. The river is a five and I bet out here. I have about 2K left. He would have no chips left. Well, he flops his 35 OESD, call off most of your stack, hit the five on the river for a bigger pair, win. Ouch. That HURT BAD. REAL BAD. So I end up taking second. I guess that is the best I could hope for tonight though. I will hit it again tomorrow.

Although I had somewhat of a meltdown I think it was different than in the past and less crazy. I am sure as hell not perfect and will tilt again in the future I am sure. I hate those extended losing periods (about a week so far, lol). However I like some of the things I did by leaving a few times.. and stepping down a level.. So maybe there is hope for me yet.

BAN THE MOUSE

As any good poker player should know there is a bill up for the banning of internet poker. Making is “officially” illegal on a federal level. Most of us think this is a joke at worse. I personally do not like the government telling me what I can and can not do in the privacy of my own home. However, there is one exception to this: BAN CHUCKY CHEEZE! Yes! Have you been there lately? It is a training ground for slot machine playing junkie kids. I mean the whole time I am there my son wants to insert tokens in a machine and win tickets. If he wins enough tickets for my $20 worth of tokens he can get a spider ring or some crap that’s worth .12 cents. The house always wins the house games. I bet if I did a little research I would find some casino VP owns major shares!!! So let’s all write a letter to the esteemed congressman and ask him to BAN CHUCKY CHEEZE!

WORST.. FUCKING.. PLAY.. EVER

Remind me to NOT play the 3$ rebuys EVER AGAIN. First the funniest hand of the night. A guy pushes all in (32K) pre-flop with AA. Some guy "by accident" calls with 26o. He had about 42K. The flop comes 26o and Mr. AA is out.

Now for my sad story. I push all in vs KT and 99 and win when the river brings me a nice Ace. I get up to 30K in chips and get QQ with a Q of diamonds. The flop is three diamonds and I push all in. A F*tard calls my all in for 26K (he had 60K at the time) with the Ace high 4-card flush draw. Nothing else. Of course he wins. Worst pre-flop call of 10K, Worse flop call of 26K EVER! I hate these morons. I would have been sitting pretty in this game. There were 380+ left out of 2500 and if I had won that hand I would have been sitting in the top 30. First place pays 5K. I am extremely pissed right now. Oh well. There is always tomorrow...

Imagination is at the heart of the game. Just as there is no right way to write a song or paint a picture, there is no right way to play poker. The best players are experimenting and adjusting all the time. The beauty of the game lies in this ever-shifting landscape, and it keeps us interested each time we sit down.

Kat Fight for HU Goddess of the World

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you a Waffles promoted fight of epic proportions. Not since the days of Rocky Balboa has such an event occurred. A relative new comer to the field of HU matches will take on none other than the Goddess of Suckouts in a 3-match game, no holds bar, Kat Fight to the Death! Will the poison work on a female?
Can Veneno even get into a hand where she is behind Kat? Will the reverse-suckout happen and remove Veneno from her throne? Only time will tell.

In the left corner, wearing the bottle of Poison, the Goddess of HU, suckout princess, Ruler of the Dark Forces Voodoo. Yoooooo Soooooooy Veneeeeenoooo! With a winning record against most bloggers out there Veneno brings an impressive record to the ring. Her favorite move is "Calling the Shot", where she say, "I Know you are ahead, but too bad, I am going to suckout on you!". Beware the Poison indeed!

In the right corner wearing, well, very little, a relative new comer to the HU, a contender who has gone 7 for 9 in her debut. A young upstart who gets her first professional fight against the ruler of HU herself Kaaaaaaaatitude! Will her wild style be able to contridict the poison? Does the poison even work on women? Could Kat have the antidote? We shall see!!

The event will consist of three matches. One fight per week. Hosting is still in the works but it will either be PokerStars or Full Tilt. The matches will be held on Sundays at 12:00 EST. I will live blog each event. Be there because everyone loves a Kat fight! A bookie is being lined up for all side bets. We are currently trying to line up a ringside announcer. Top on the list of prospect is HighOnPoker. Jordon would not even need a microphone.

Bad Play of the Day

I am back to my winning ways which has my mood a little better. Nothing worse than losing. Taking second in the Stars 45/SNG helped alot. Score 100 clams for your favorite Blogger.

Here is a hand that won me alot. I got berated by the table captain.. I have AQ and I raise up 3xBB to 1200. The blinds are 600 and I have a HUGE stack of around 8K. I get one caller. The flop comes KJx and I do the normal continuation bet of 1200. I immediatly get re-raised another 1200. Now here I have some odds. I assume my Ace might be good.. and the straight would be great. Now I have position in the hand. I have made a semi-loose call but it is not horrible. Slightly bad.

The person I was playing against made her BIG mistake here. She bets out 400. Now this is stupid. However .. let's evaluate what she called my raise with pre-flop. Close your eyes if you do not like spoilers. KTo. Now her play makes total sense from her part. She just made a decent size raise that was cold called and now she has no idea where she is. Did I raise AK, KQ, KJ, AA, something else? She does not want to lose any more money but it is too hard to put me on a hand. So by making the mistake of playing KT pre-flop, she basically screws herself here. The river is a T. Again she can not put me on a hand, probably she is thinking AK. So she pushes the rest of her 6K stack into my NUT hand and I bust her. So here is a lesson kiddies: If you can not play your hand hard do not play it. Berate me if you will but the turn bet she put in was by far the worse move of the hand if playing KT at all to a raise was not.

Night of a Thousand Dooms

OMFG! What a horrible night. I could barely win a 20/3 SNG going out first once. First out of six fish. Nasty. I then proceeded to have my 66 set cracked by AA set in another tourney. Got SUPREMELY outplayed by BoobieLover in the DADIII, no bad luck there. Be in first place in another 20/3 on Titan and only manage to make third in HORRENDOUS beats. Went to Full Tilt and played a 10$/MTT. Had a nice stack going into the bubble area. I then was in position to make a 15K pot when my KJ flopped a King against A8 hearts. One heart on the board. Two. Three. Ouch. I actually made the money but went out right aftwerwards when my AA flopped a set and some tool with K5 calls my all in. The guy with QJ also calls. He had two pair. I had him dominated. The K5 flush draw MOFO ends up turning his flush and I never made my boat. I was SO close to going deep here. It was stupid. I am SO pissed off about the bad night I am having that I am just going to bed. Tomorrow has GOT to be better.

It IS on

Read Dreamy’s reply.

Scott, I sort of feel sorry for you. Like one of those old people in the nursing homes that still think it is World War Two. Have you forgotten to take your meds? Perhaps the stress of losing our last two meetings has taken a toll on your mind.

Come to the present my friend, for those old Waffles are in the trash and a fresh new batch has been made. If you challenged me to a game at the 30/60 table I would refuse. Not because your shaking, feeble, old hands scare me, but because homey does not play that anymore. I enjoy our current game. Sure there are others with us but that makes it all the more real. It is nice to take the other fishies money while waiting to bust you.

However if you wish to beat your chest, and assume that seven games encompasses anything more than short term variance then I am game. Perhaps someday you will understand poker. We can play at either Titan or Full Tilt for either five or ten a game. The amount is secondary as I am sure you will agree and either of those amounts fit into my bankroll requirements. Shall we do it as first one to seven wins? Or were you suggesting best of seven? It was not clear in your ramblings and we should just clarify that.

I wish you the best of luck, because you will need it. I look forward to our little wager.

JJProdigy Loses Prize

I am glad they resolved this issue in the way they did. I guess it was Party Poker and not Pokerstars where this happened. He does not deserve to win and for once Party Poker did what was right.

Dear Brent,

On Sunday February 12th, 2006 you participated in our $500k Guaranteed
$215 Buy-in Tournament.

After the tournament concluded, our investigations team conducted an
investigation into two of the accounts that had participated in the
tournament (ABlackCar and JJProdigy). After an in-depth investigation, the
investigations team; in conjunction with the poker manager, legal and
management, made a determination that, based on the evidence, the two
accounts had played in the $500k Tournament from the same IP address and
both from the same computer.

A decision was made to disqualify both accounts from the tournament and
redistribute the prize money accordingly. One of the accounts placed
1st in the tournament while the other placed 2,162nd (out of the money).
In addition, both accounts have been suspended and will no longer be
allowed to play at PartyPoker.com.

Each player that placed in the money has been moved up one spot,
including the player that had previously finished 401st (one spot out of the
money). Although there is no perfect way to rectify this situation, we
feel that this was the best way to redistribute the money.

Previously you had placed 4th in the tournament and won $41,300.
Moving you up to 3rd place, resulted in a new prize payout of $51,800, an
increase of $10,500.The additional money will be credited to your account
within the next week.

We appreciate the diligence with which our players help to keep our
tables safe and friendly.

If you have any further questions, comments or concerns, please contact
us at alerts@PartyPoker.com and we will be more than glad to assist
you.

Regards,

Mr. Dreamy Losing His Mind

Mr. Dreamy: Special shout out to Waffle house. Yes you did get me 2 times dont think I forgot. You time is coming and your end is near. Look for me at every cash game you sit down to soon even that damn 4 card game.

Ignoring the bad speeling, hey that is not my thing either, my reply is very simple. Are you refering to me Mr. Dreamy? Now I know for sure you have gone off the deep end.. when you let Sir Waffles get under your skin.. that is embaressing. Please try to control your emotions. I think maybe you should drop down to the .02/.04 tables for a while just until you regain your composure.

I look forward to doing battle with you again. While it is nice to take money from the ATMs.. it has a special meaning when I take it from someone I respect.. like the nice little tiny, tiny, bet I put out when I had the nuts saying I was scared of that big ole Ace.. it was great to see you pounce on it like a big fat old tiger who has lost his teeth. Classic. Enjoyable. I hope to do it again in the future.

As I have said in all of my past posts you are the more successful and better cash game player than I am. However something is changing in the House of Waffles. I can not describe it exactly.. I think I am finally getting "it". It's not something you can teach. You just need to experience enough Poker to accept it. I finally think I can accept poker for what it is. This has lead to a HUGE jump in my game. So please, keep underestimating me.. because money is money, and I am an equal opportunity receiver. I learn alot everytime I take a dollar off of you, and every time I give you one. So keep charging at me old bull and we will have fun with the dance. I for one welcome the challenge and enjoy the games.

Since..

Now I am not a big fan of "Poker" content on this here blog. I would rather cry about a bad beat. I would rather not school the donkeys. However, since I have turned a new leaf over I need to do something different. Since I had such a good time at the WWDN last night. Since I got to play with one of my Favorite Bloggers April last night (where the hell did you learn that over-the-top move girl?). Since I am feeling charitable and my radio is broken along with my breaks, tire, and whatever fell off yesterday on the way to work. Since I am running white hot and think I am all that. I shall share some of my thoughts.

I was thinking about this on the ride to work. This is for some of you players who fall in love with TPTK. Listen up Kat this one is for you.

Learn how to fold before you learn when not to.

What do I mean by that? In A LOT of the games your going to be playing the opponents are simpletons. When they raise it means one thing: They have a hand. If you are UNABLE or UNWILLING to fold top pair weak kicker, or top pair with the nut-shizzle Ace kicker you will never win. Folding is a powerful move. Utilize it. Once you master this then you can go to phase two: Knowing when to not fold.

A great example of this was in last nights WWDN. I was playing against an opponent I highly respect: Wes (AKA BoobieLover). I have come to like stareing at Elisha Culpert a lot since Wes is usually in to the end in these WWDN events. We had a monster hand together last night. Here is how it rolled.

I believe we are on the final table and I look down to see AK. I raise my standard 3xBB in order to give nothing away and Wes calls. The flop is all low cards and I do my standard continuation bet. Wes comes over the top of me. Here is my thinking in the hand.

1. Wes does not play crappy cards. So either he has me way beat with AA/KK/QQ or he is semi-bluffing.
2. Wes has seen me continuation bet and fold to huge raises prior to this. Yes people, I like to fold. I think he would notice this and maybe try and squeeze out my tight/weak ass.

Instead of really thinking what I had I tried to think what Wes was trying to accomplish with the huge raise. I thought he was trying to push me out so I called. He flipped up AQ and I basically knocked him out of the game. My point here is that sometimes you need to read someone. You also need to be willing to do different things in the exact same situation. It keeps your opponents off there heels. Changing your game up constantly is important. If my read was totally off then Wes would have been writing about his exciting third place finish and I would be moaning about my loss. However I would have no regrets about my move either way.

Last few pieces of advice are really just a little showing off I guess. I busted out a player last night because I was paying attention. Sometimes showing your cards can get you great dividends. I have written in the past about how I pushed all in with a semi-bluff on a scary board and caused my opponent to fold. It is a dangerous move and should be used carefully. I did it again last night and it paid off great. I had KJ s00ted and the board gave me great redraw potential. On the turn a straight was on the board. I had a straight and a flush draw but only bottom pair. My opponent had been betting out so I knew he had me beat. So what do I do? I push. He folds. Why did I push? I think these scary boards can be a good play to push WHEN you have redraws, especially 16+ of them. Even if your opponent does not fold you have a shot at winning.

I flipped over my cards for this hand and typed "Wimp". I was setting the stage for a play that would happen twenty hands later. I wake up with position on the same opponent with AQs. I do my standard raise and he calls. The flop comes Qxx. I bet out. He calls. The turn is another rag and I push all in exactly the same way I did when I was bluffing. He calls me this time. I bust him. Sorry. So do not be afraid to bluff when you have monster redraws and the board has to be scary and play some mind games. They work.

The last noteworthy hand of the night was something I pulled on Scott the night before. It is the Ole’ bait-and-switch. I did not invent this but I like it. If you are playing with an aggressive, good, player, bet your draws early. Yup. Do it. I was in a hand where I had the nut flush draw with an Ace on the flop. So I bet out. This gives me two ways to win: The player folds, or I hit my flush on the turn. He cold calls me and my case diamond hits on the turn. I then pause for the required five seconds. Acting is important here. I lead out a VERY small bet like I think my hand is still good but I did not like the diamond flush. On cue the guy with the straight draw pushes in drawing dead and I win a huge pot. I like the "fake-weak" bet against GOOD, AGGRESSIVE, PLAYERS.

WWDN: I P@WN You

I took another final table finish. It was a small field. I got blinded down and went out in 3rd place. I pushed with 58d figuring I had straight, flush, and low card outs. I was right. He had A4. I ALMOST caught my straight. Oh well. Not much you can do with 10xBB left.

A player at the table, Gantor, was making some sub-optimal decisions and getting paid off big for them. I beleive his wins included pushing 55 against JJ, AQ against AA with an AKT board. Hands he should of gotten beaten on over and over.

Now while I think he *could* have gotten away from a few of those hands I have two problems with people yelling at him. The first one is that it is just rude. Grow up. Bad beats happen every day. Blog about it but don't go and berate a player. Especially in the WWDN where people have various skill levels.

The second thing I like about his play is the fact that he was willing to play. Yes, he was behind, and sucked out alot. However he showed aggression and it is VERY important at a final table to be very aggressive. I liked that.

So anyway, here is to hoping the next time Gantor wins he does so with the best cards. However, cut the guy a break, he was playing hard and I respect that.

The bankroll(s) had a very healthy night. Stars stands at $450ish, Titan is up to $272 and I even have a few bucks left on Full Tilt. I entered the cancer MTT with half of my monies at Full Tilt. So here is hoping I make some scores with the other half.

This and that..

I guess the schedule for tonight is WWDN and then I think I will hit Titan again since I am running SUPER WHITE HOT on that site.

Absolute Poker Pimp had a neat link to Stackspoker.com. It has a cool
trailer you should check out. I think the graphics are kinda lame and overall I do not want alot of animation slowing down my game. Gotta
keep that BB/hr rate up you know. However I am more than willing to beta-test the site and maybe win some free stuff.

For those interested in trying a new online poker experience Stackspoker.com is still taking applications for Beta Preview Players.
All invitations for beta players will be sent out by Feb 19th according to the site manager.
so if you are interested sign up before Sunday.

Sir 2, Dreamy 0

'Nuff Said.

Stars Blah and some new for Drizz

Well not much success on Stars tonight. Played that tourney with Mookie. Nine people showed up. So it became an SNG. It was fun though. These guys like to kick each other in the balls as much as possible. I got a little too cute with a few hands and ended up losing. Oh well. I also tried the $3 Qualifier for the 750K. I got down to 40 left somehow but only 24 paid this time. Doh! I tried my best. I ended up short stacked (27K) and having to push with 99.Of course the guy after me. One of the three remaining.. had AA. Oops.

On to Titan and my news for Drizz. Guess what I saw tonight? A .50/1$ PLO8 game going. Yes. I played a hand. I doubled up. I stayed an orbit or two. I left. I also came in second in a 20/3 MTT. It hurt. I push the flop. K3 calls. I have AJ. He rivers a 3. Ouchie. However another $40 profit to add to my $20 at the O8 table. I then decided to take my $18 (as in $218 is an odd number) and put it down on Blackjack. I doubled up there too. So Titan was running well tonight.

Scott has alerted me to a HUGE fish I must play so I am heading back to Titan. Drizz. Go see the Titan PLO8 game. It HAS GOT TO BE the WEAKEST ONE ON THE INTERNET. Yet I suck at PL08 So I can not judge. Go forth and scout my friend.

Hooters
Current mood: playful
Category: Blogging

It is a very strange experience to turn on the television and see yourself starring in a commercial... I recently did a commercial for "Hooters" and let me tell you, it is something else... Judge for yourself...

Phil Gordon's Hooters Ad

One interesting note: when the commercial shoot concluded, they gave me $5000 in Hooter's Gift Cards.

With that in mind, I'm officially announcing the first contest for my MySpace Blog:

HOOTERS HEAVEN

Write a short couple of paragraphs on why you deserve a $100 Gift Card to Hooter's. PLEASE POST THE ANSWERS HERE FOR ALL TO SEE! I'll be judging, and by this time next week, we'll have a winner and a $50 runner-up. You will be judged on creativity, Hooters imagery, and your ability to make me laugh. If you'd like, I'll personally autograph your Hooter's Gift card before mailing it out to you. Have fun and dream about mounds of Chicken Wings....

Let the Games Begin!

My Response:

Top Ten Reasons Sir Waffles (www.sirfwalgman.blogspot.com) should get the hooters card:

10. Married with children, damn man does that not qualify me for a little Hooters Action?

9. Watches Celebrity Poker Showdown religiously and think your way better than David Foley.

8. If you do not I am going to come to Full Tilt with my $200 bankroll and hunt you down!!!!!

7. Once won a Chicken Wing Eating Content – I will do you proud man!

6. We have so much in common, you worked on AI projects and sold your company for 96 million during the Internet bubble, I make cute little Panda web sites for old ladies and sell them for 96 dollars if I am lucky.

5. Would rather raise 76c in middle position with a small stack than A2o. (I know, I suck at top ten lists)

4. You contribute millions of dollars for charity, I will try and fleece a small field of contestants in a Luekemia charity event on Full Tilt:

What: Suckout on Luekemia
When: Sun, Feb 26th @ 17:00
How Much: $10 + 16
Password: playforjill

3. I promise if you choose me I will never come to Hooters in Vegas! NEVER! You won’t even need a restraining order.

2. One of the five people who bought the Little Green Book. Ok, ok, you got me there, I did not buy it, I won it from Dr. Pauly (http://taopoker.blogspot.com/), but I might have bought it someday!

1. Know people who beat you in Roshambo for cash and have the pictures to blackmail you with (http://www.flickr.com/photos/36337724@N00/73546937/)!!!

I did my best people.. Hope I at least made Phil Laugh.

Are people really this stupid?

JJProdigy and his Butt Boys

Now I have no idea who JJProdigy is. I hear he is an aewsome player and wins alot of tourneys. Great for him. How can you say that busting out of a tourney and then using another persons account to win the same tourney is not cheating? I mean are you that fracking stupid? I think sitting next to someone and helping them is marginally less cheating but kicking grandma out of the room so you can win an tourney you just busted out of. OMG! What kind of moron can defend such a thing? Then you have his butt-squad saying things like:

who cares? JJ owns and if he wants to use two accounts, I could care less. We all do it one way or another when he play on our laptops with our friends. We discuss things while we are in the hand and talk about it openly and you know you do it. Anyways, congrats bro.

Ok, so just say "I do not care if JJ is a liar, a cheat, and ripped some honest person off of $140,000". I mean that at least is a true response. Instead of saying "I am JJ's butt-boy and whatever he does is cool with me".

I have no idea why I even bothered to comment on this. I do hope Pokerstars takes the 140K back. He did not earn it. I do not necessarily think he should be banned, but a strong warning should be sent.

Yet Another One..

I am nerdier than 89% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

>> I thought I was nerdier than this.

I am 99% loser. What about you? Click here to find out!

>> I knew I was a loser!

The Stupid Quiz said I am "Kinda Smart, but Stupid!" How stupid are you? Click here to find out!

>> Man I thought I was smarter than average.. damn I do good for an Average everything.

I dont usually read him butttttt...

From Cause everyone is doing it a poker blog by mookie. Do not know the guy personally but I am always in for short field private tourneys.

Mr. Dreamy Visits Sir Waffles House of Pain

Mr. Dreamy is a stellar player. He routinely runs his $20 Titan buyins up to $2500 and cashes out. Something funny has happened tonight though. Instead of him killing me as usual I smoked his ass tonight. Now those of you who read this humble blog know I suck at cash games. However tonight I P@wned EVERYONE. I mean if I called an all-in with A2 of hearts with one heart on the board I rivered a flush. It was AEWSOME. I quickly ran my $20 buyin up to $50. Including once nice Q-high flush vs Mr. Dreamy's J-high. That cost him some money. I left him with a few bucks so I could enjoy.

The MTT scene was not as good. Busted out of WWDN and another tourney, short stacked, with pocket 4's. What can ya do? One time someone had QQ the other AQ. The flop for the AQ was AA and I was pretty much drawing dead.

The good and the bad

Last night was a down night. Dropped a few bucks on Stars and on Titan. I hate losing. However it was just one night. I did make the money in a Stars 10$ MTT. Just after I made my two bucks I pushed with JJ small stacked and ran smack dab into AA.

I also busted out of a Titan $50 MTT. Now I KNOW I do not have the bankroll to be playing these BUT sixty people and $1200 for first is AEWSOME. I placed 5 out of the money when I was short stacked, had JT s0000ted, and one limper before me and the BB left to act. I pushed. I probably could have waited out the five remaining players. Anyway, some brain surgeon with KJo decided to call me and I was DOMINATED. I am going to play this game again but I am going to wait until I bring my bankroll up a little more, lets say $300 and I will take another shot at it. If anyone does not know this already, TITAN RULES! The MTTs are always <200 people and VERY SOFT. I would be VERY surprised if I was not telling you about another 200 to 2000 score on there very shortly.

My favorite Wil Wheaton tourney is starting up tonight. I just love this game. It is Haewsome, whatever the hell that mean. I wonder when Poker Stars will get around to doing the TOURNEMENT OF CHAMPIONS (loud thunderous music in background). I am actually not even sure I would be in the first one as it was originally mentioned as an SNG type thing with the first eight winners and eight time loser Wil (sorry, I couldn't help myself, I crack myself up). I am sure we will hear something soon.. Good luck and see you all there tonight.

Also on the good cause front, in case someone has not heard about this:

So I will be breaking with my normal "safe" ways for one day and investing half my Full Tilt bankroll on a good cause. Hope to see some of you there..

Uberposting

Slow week at work so far so been building my bloglines links. Have collected 348 and counting. Finding new sites like the Poker Road Warrior, he might have to be my blog of the month for that monitor setup. I know some people have much better ones but this is the first time I saw his. I was kind of getting embarrassed about the Isabelle dream but at least Garth enjoyed it. Heh. Oh well.. Hell, I even said something nice about the Poker Princess today, we don’t exactly get along.. probably because I call her Marge all the time and ask about her blue hair. She is however, from what I have seen and read, one hell of a poker player. Of course nobody can read my damn comment until I go home and approve it. You would think CardPlayer would remember I am not some spambot and let me post my comments automajically. Oh well.

While I am ranting and raving and misbehaving in general I might as well remind you to sign up to the DADI: Heads Up. It starts at 9PMEST on Poker Stars Friday 2/17. The password is: BlogsAreGay. I have yet to signup, but I am going to fix that tonight. I will be registering in the DADI and WWDN and then playing a 20/2 SNG to make all that scratch back. Possibly the 180/SNG after that if the night is going well.

Darn work.. totally lost my train of thought if I ever had one.

Titan Poker is still a hotbed of fishie goodness. Only site on the internet where I can beat the cash game. I took twenty from Mr. Dreamy’s table. He warmed the fish up for me. Usually he gobbles me up in the frenzy too, but I was on the lookout for his evil tricks and was able to double up my buyin. My favorite hand of the night was in my second 2500MTT of the night. I wish I had saved the chat on this one. I have AK, standard pre-flop raise, a three to a flush flush flop, with my King being the NUT flush if another heart comes and TPTK. So I push on the flop. I get called by 42o gutshot straight draw with a dead 4 high 4-card flush draw and the turn is 5 and the river is .. 6 .. and that my friends makes the fish a straight that did not even exist when all the money went in. I told her nice hand. She then though I was insulting her. I tried to explain that I just thought the hand was incredibly funny and was not commenting on her putting her money in as a 99% underdog (97% actually but who’s counting). Hell she improved to 93% on the turn. Who knew? She still did not get it. So I told her she was too stupid to understand and I was done talking fish. I actually busted before her when my AQ ran up against AK. Again. She thought that was funny. Yeah, I will take my 5th place cash and what could have been another cash and laugh at your NEVER EVER GONNA WIN ANYTHING ass all day long.

Andy Beal vs the Corporation continues. That has to be a crazy ass game. I guess Andy is back up. I hate corporations so I am pulling for the little guy. Ok, ok, So he is a Billionaire and this puts a fault in my logic. So what. I still like the guy. Of course I may have put the Waffles curse on him by cheering. Oops. Sorry Andy!

Congrats to Iggy on his bubble finish in the 750K! WOW! Beating out 5000 people and being just shy of the money. That my friends is a GREAT accomplishment. I know he will make it one of these times.

Ran across this site too. Strange. Here is what my blog spilled out. Thanks to Grinders Warehouse for that one.

I almost forgot.. doesn't Al look alot like Glenn? Hmm.. maybe that is why he is one of her favorites?

Ok. Done with the Iggy length rambling Uber Blog. Good luck and see you tonight at the tables.

I am a pervet

I had the weirdest dream last night. Perhaps it was fueled by my impending "Big Game". I am not sure what triggered it but it was wild. It starts out with me asking Isabelle Mercier to teach me how to play poker. Somehow we are in my Hotel room. Now I have no idea how we got there, it is a dream people, so go with it. She is wearing a sleak, black, sexy dress. She asks me “Do you want to learn about poker”. I reply “.. umm.. yes”. “Poker is about aggression she tells me”, as she slips off her black panties and pushes me back on a chair. Some how my penis is out of my pants. It’s a freaking dream I told you! She straddles me and tells me it is all about taking what you want from the players at the table. It is all about aggression baby!

After that awesome part of the dream she somehow tries to commit suicide off the balcony of our Hotel in Veags. What does that say about my feelings of self worth? I dunno. It works out well in the end though as I convince her not to and we make love again. Dreams are nice!

Up's and Down's

Well it was an interesting game. Albeit a little short. I busted out pretty early. I was trying to MAKE things happen instead of LETTING them happen. Alot of my "A" game vs my "D" game has to do with how patient I feel.. how convinced I am that I have time.. It is key. In the 750K I did not have my "A" game on. So I made bad moves, got called by bad players, and busted out pretty fast. I actually got taken out by the Donkey hand when I raised AK pre- and he flopped his Queen. I was pot committed by the time I did my continuation bet and that was it. I am going to try and play the 3$ rebuy again and see if I can get into the 750K again.

On the up side I doubled my Titan bankroll and was not even playing Blackjack. Nope. I played in the 2K MTT and took 5th. I could have done better but I pushed with AQ and ran up against AK. Oopsie. What is a guy to do? In three minutes after I busted out the two smaller stacks busted. So I probably cost myself a third place finish but it was the right move.

So the bankroll stands at $600ish between Titan and Stars. Not a bad start. My affiliate money should be coming on the 15th too so I can take a crack at making a roll on Full Tilt. I have yet to ever get a nice roll going there so that would be a good goal.

Best of all it seems (for the moment) I have left the insane part of me behind. I am growing in ways as a Poker player that I never though possible. Bad Beats and Suckouts rarely piss me off lately. Oh yeah I have some flashback and bad times. The whole let's destroy our bankroll feeling has left for now though. If I lose an 10$ MTT, then I play another one. No need to go up to a higher level. Same with SNGs. I just let it happen. Who knows maybe someday I can be a Professional player, not in the sense of playing for a living but in the true meaning of the word professional: somebody recognized for expertise or skill in a craft or activity.

750 Qualifier -- Be there or Be Kaellin

I owe alot to Kaellin. He invited me to the 750 Qualifier and I won it. He busted out early. Just never got any cards. So yours truely will be entering in the contest. I also will be selling a percentage of myself. I have never done this but on quick consultation I have heard the going rate is 10% for a 5% Share of the pool. So to round things off and come up with an even number I will be selling a 5% Share in my take of the 750,000 tourney at $20 a pop. Drop me an IM via Yahoo, the blog, or what not. I take transfers to Pokerstars or Full Tilt.

Qualifications:

1. Two Time World Champion of Blogger events including Saturdays with Dr. Pauly and WWDN.

2. Consistently money against over 2500 idiots. Now this would not be very impressive, but since I got into this tourney via a 3$ rebuy with many morons I think this skill could come in handy.

3. Have a knack for making the money. So you probably will break even at worse and might win a TON OF DOLLARS!

4. MTT Specialist since February. Have played with the best. Including Film Geek, Felicia, and Scary Lady.

Ok anyway. If you want a change, call it a lottery ticket, to the 750,000 Guarenteed tomorrow hurry up. If not the I will just have to win to spite you.

Whatsadealamajig?

The new blogs running well. I guess everyone hates it since there was no "Nice Job", "Thanks for making it less dark", "About time motherfucker".. I have increased my bloglines roll to over 300 entries. I know I am insane. I like collecting things though. Impulsively. Insanely. Collecting. At least by adding everyone in I got to read alot of new juicy poker content as well as some of the bad things happening around the blogsphere.

I owe SoxLove or his wife ten bucks. Get me the exact pokerstars account to send to and I will pay up tonight. No biggie. However that brings me to the subject of todays post: How can your game change so much in one day? It is weird. I played an aewsome game on Tuesday. I was lucky enough to be ahead on every hand I had to showdown. Also all of my slightly-ahead hands held up. Last night I sucked. I was slightly ahead of Iggy's AJ with my pair of sevens but as loose of a push as Iggy's was my call was probably ten times worse. Of course little Napoleon pushing you around is not exactly a tell of a strong hand, just of a very strong Poker player. I then proceeded to double up my $400 roll with of all hands T9. CJ tried to take me out with AK, pshhhwawww. What was I thinking? I guess that CJ was trying to steal my blind.. either that or why the hell not I only have 2BB. He then got all his chips back when I re-raised his initial raise with KQo. I mean how Donkey is that? I was glad to see two live cards but I am a better player than that .. I think. I guess with us inconsitent types it all comes down to doing what you know how to do ALL THE TIME.

At least I came in tenth in the PLO tourney. It was a nice score and I am going to try PLO some more even though my entire strategy is to play only ten hands. I can give you the URL if your interested. The bad taste in my mouth from that one was when I raised 6K pre-flop with KK and pushed with an Ace on the board. Of course the numbnuts that had called me pre-flop would have at least an ace, right? Yup. That was about all he had besides a HUGE stack. Moron. Actually to be fair when you have a HUGE stack in O8 its not a bad idea to push small margins. My play on the flop was far worse than anything he did. Next time I will keep my dick in my pants and make the real money.

Oh well.. only a few more hours to juice poker fun. The bankroll is still doing well with only a 2$ loss since the WWDN championship and over $100 profit on Titan Poker from a free $20 they game me. Should I put it all down on one blackjack hand? heh. Just kidding. If I ever get that bankroll to a respectable level I am IMMEDIATLY cashing out half. The Pros: The players SUCK FAR WORSE than any players anywhere. The Cons: Not alot of players, the Sidegames could be a distraction if you let them. I honestly hope Pokerstars and Full Tilt stay away from the Blackjack/Roulette monies on there primary sites. Open an affiliate that does that crap if you want. Show your customers that you actually care about them. Enough ranting and raving for one day. Catcha later.

See SoxLover I told you so..

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

In order to match my new outlook on Poker I am revamping the blog. So far the plans are to have a new template, remove my links to other blogs and have a "Blog of the Month", and to link to my Bloglines version of my Blog listing so everyone can know what blogs I read. If you would like to be considered for Blog of the Month drop me a comment or catch me on IM.

Thanks Wil!

Wil Wheaton actually said I wrote a g00t blog post. OMG! I have finally made the bigtime, heh. I love reading his blog. I will admit I am not a regular reader. I basically go to his site once a week and catch up. I love people who can catch you up in there stories, no matter if they are describing a walk in the park, or a life changing event. You just have to keep reading to see what is next. I wish I could write that well. Him liking my post is definitly an honor. Thanks Man! I look forward to playing you in the TOC too assuming that is still happening.

If you want to read his post at cardsquad.com go ahead and click here. It also has some real good poker content. Some of the Scariest Bloggers post articles there. It is absolutly worth a read.

See you all tonight.

In preperation

In preperation of the sale of the WWDN book I have put up substantial monies with SoxLover for tonights WWDN. As I apply the principle's that are laid out in the book I shall attempt to make the money for the third time in a row. If this unheard of thing happens then you will be reading a book by people with OVER FIVE VICTORIES in the WWDN. Hopefully we will not be banned. Please signup everyone you know so I can make the money at the 18th spot instead of the 9th.. heh. My thinking in taking this bet, besides promoting the book, is this: SoxLover=Loser, SoxWife=Winner, so, the fates will conspire against SoxLover and propel me into the money. If said bet was with his wife I would surely lose.

I also intend to participate in the Donkeys Always Draw III: Heads Up Championship. It is on February 27th and the password is Blogsaregay. Although I give the edge in this one to Veneno I will do my best.

Still Warm and Fuzzy

Wow. I am still feeling mighty good about last nights win. As you all know I tend to be an emotional player. When I busted out 8th in Thursday nights WWDN it was painful. I was really bumming. Sort of like when Iggy busted me on the bubble in Saturday's With Dr. Pauly. However, I always bounce back fast, and just like Dr. Pauly's I came back the next time and took it all down.

I actually want to examine the KJ pivitol hand a little more also. It was true it was risky, dangerous, etc.. but it also is not totally my move. I read about something like this in Phil Gordons little Green book. I paraphrase but basically Phil likes every once in a while to cold call a flop bet and then raise over the top on the turn. It is a scary thing. It really says either I was trapping you or I have a really good hand your doomed. Now I do not know how he would feel about risking all your chips on a move like this but I liked it. If you have not read the Little Green Book you should. Before I read it I thought of Phil as "That Hollywood Doofus guy". Shows how much Poker history I know. Afterwards though I gained a great deal of respect for him. One thing that was interesting but can be hard to pull of in low-limit poker is the varied bet move. I think most of us either pot it or check-fold. His betting strategy involved putting up between 1/3-3/4th the pot in a random fashion. The only problem with this is alot of donkeys see this as a weak bet and automajically come over the top of you. Use this to your advantage when you can.
Buy the book though. It explains things much better than I ever could. I added a link to the book below in my Amazon section if you want it.

On a brighter note me and Boobs are in negotiations to write "WWDN: Beating the System". As multi-time winners we will share with you our patented secrets to beating the tourney. All this can be yours for the low low price of 19.95+s/h and tax where applicaple.

On that note did I win some entry to some special WWDN winner tourney or something? I thought I read something about that somewhere. Would be a nice cherry on the top! Also, if someone has naming rights, may I suggest "Sir Waffles House of Pain". heh.

Did I forget to mention Iggys all in with the hammer last night? In all my excitement I think I may have. Balls of Steel little Dwarf! Balls of Steel! He not only went all in, but he had a HUGE stack. The kind of stack that easily could have made the final table. A stack bigger than mine. He pushes it all into the middle with the Hammer with 14 or so people left. WOW! I bow to you Sir. One day I hope to be half as good as you.

Ohhhhhh... I almost forgot. My Aqua-Lung came today. It is a little thing. Looks like a vacume but goes the other way. Hope this helps my health improve.

Ok. I am an airhead and my ranting has gone on long enough. Thanks again to everyone who posted, cheered me on, and all that stuff. I hope to be able to build on my meager start. I have a nice working roll at PokerStars with Small starter rolls of $40 and $50 at Titan and Full Tilt. Hopefully I can score in a few small MTTs on these sites and get all three rolls up to healthy status.

Wil Wheaton: Finally

Yes I am still tingly. I have no idea how I did it. I won the Wil Wheaton WWDN! First place baby, after the ROUGH suckout to take eigth last week. Like I was just saying this is a good game. A great mix of some of the toughest and some not so bad players.

I had a rough road. I started out playing UpYoursPoker (CJ), and Bdr1968. Two tough opponents. Bdr ended up making the final table. CJ.. well, let's just say, the LuckBox had wound down for the day. If you ask me how I won this thing I can not really tell you. I will try though. Where is Dr. Pauly during these important events?

It started out a little slow. Won my first pot against Scary Ladies Daddy! Oh god, if I knew it was HER dad I would have folded. I had pocket 9's and flopped a set on a VERY scary straight/flush possible board. If this was ScaryLady then she would have bet me off the pot. A lesson for Daddy. Please don't hurt me ScaryLady. That got me up to 1900 chips. Our table was very aggressive pre-flop and it made it hard for me to lose alot of chips like I normally try to do. Pretty much I think I played small stack poker until the blinds got high. No major hands. Took down a few small ones. Took most of my pots before showdown. Bluffed a tiny bit.

On level VII the blinds started eating me and I was down to 2K chips with 200 blinds I changed it around to Big Pot Poker. All in pre-flop. Any and all hands. The first hand I made some chips on was against Frankl66. He raised to 600 pre-flop and I had AK so I pushed with my 2400 stack. I figured only a monster hand is going to call me and I needed chips. Worse case I am 50/50 AND I am putting pressure on here. This is very important especially towards the later levels. I also had been routinely raised by Frank. Hold onto that note. Frank routinely tried to take my blinds. So I routinely raised him all in and forced him to make a hard choice.

I then got switched to an even harder table. Iggy, Grob and TripJax. Three players I respect alot. To beat Iggy you MUST see how much he leans over in his chair. If he is almost falling off you got a good shot. Next hand I have Pocket QQ's vs jg-2323. He raises before me and this is where I play poker. QQ is a decent hand. So I re-raise his hand and make it 1400 to go. He thinks for a little. I assume if he has AA/KK then he call and tries to suckout. Either that or he insta-goes all in. Instead with the pause I was PRETTY sure I was looking at smaller pockets. I was indeed and my QQ stood up against TT. I now have 7K in chips and I am basically folding to the money. There were something like 7 spots until the money. I was not going to be a woos, but I would play only strong hands and play them as hard as I could but smartly. Iggy had been getting a little frisky so I re-raised him a few times to take some pots. Basically I raised a few hands to steal enough blinds to survive with a good stack until the final table.

One hand of note was when Iggy went out by pushing all in with AT. TripJacks had QQ and took him out. I asked Iggy later "Bored?".. the response was yes. I can see that. He is a much better player than that. If I had a 1 MILLION dollar bankroll the Wil Wheaton 250 would be pretty boring to me too. I only asked because I thought maybe there was some super secret poker tell that Iggy picked up on or something.

So I found myself at the final table with a decent amount of chips. It stood as follows:

Seat 1: bdr1968 (12112 in chips)
Seat 2: TripJax (32335 in chips)
Seat 3: SERNE (41222 in chips)
Seat 4: GRobman (15314 in chips)
Seat 5: L0K1 (5928 in chips)
Seat 6: SirFWALGMan (10987 in chips)
Seat 7: Trekgal (8077 in chips)
Seat 8: RandomSam (15455 in chips)
Seat 9: kaellinn18 (7070 in chips)

Basic strategy. Wait for a few people to go out. Play hard. Play smart. Hope to hell I win. I was waiting for Kaellinn18 to go out since he was a small stack but that would not happen until MUCH later. Great job. I again took alot of small stacks. Did well keeping ahead of the blinds and letting other people get pissed at Grob and try and take him out. I was more than happy to let the LuckBox Disciple suckout on people.

One of the best early flops was
*** FLOP *** [2c 7h 7c]

TripJax said, "fear my hamma"
RandomSam said, "hammer flop"
TripJax: bets 3000
SirFWALGMan said, "scariest flop ever"
kaellinn18 said, "seriously"

Serene ended up either having the best hand or bluffinf TripJax out of that hand on the river. GRob's LuckBox was wound up tight with this hand.

CJ to Grob: "You have learned well my Padwan"

*** FLOP *** [Th 8d 9h]
bdr1968: bets 6400

I was down to 6K when this happy hand happened.

*** SHOW DOWN ***
SERNE: shows [Ad Qh] (high card Ace)
SirFWALGMan: shows [Qs Qc] (a pair of Queens)
SirFWALGMan collected 15174 from pot

If it wasnt for that hand Serene might have been playing someone easier than me HU. heh.

I got lucky on this hand too. Luckbox tried to kill me with THE HAMMER!

Dealt to SirFWALGMan [Ah Qs]
GRobman: raises 3200 to 4000
SirFWALGMan: raises 9624 to 13624 and is all-in
kaellinn18: folds

SirFWALGMan collected 28698 from pot

kaellinn18 said, "you got lucky waffles"
SirFWALGMan: folds
SirFWALGMan said, "i know"
kaellinn18: folds
TripJax: folds
SERNE: folds
TripJax said, "indeed"
SirFWALGMan said, "this could be my night"

Little did I know how true that statement was going to be. After I beat his hammer GRob started to self destruct. His rather large chip lead starting leaking off and you could tell he was not on his game. It is a shame because when he is playing his game and winning he is a formidable foe. Hats off to you GRob, better luck next time.
A funny thing started happening too.. my fans started coming out of EVERYWHERE! I <3 you guys!

SirFWALGMan said, "the fact I have fans is a big score in itself"
kaellinn18 said, "we're all fans"
SirFWALGMan said, "not Felicia, lol"
kaellinn18 said, "haha true"
SirFWALGMan said, "I only want to win her heart"

Touching I know. I love Felicia and respect her opinions alot. Of course it would be nice if she could find one nice thing to say to me. Hmm.. Maybe I like abuse?

SirFWALGMan said, "damn I got the whole fan thing going on now"

I bluffed a HUGE pot at this point in time. I just sensed weakness and took advantage. I did have outs however.

Dealt to SirFWALGMan [Jc Kc]
SirFWALGMan: raises 1600 to 2400
kaellinn18: calls 2400
TripJax: folds
SERNE: folds
GRobman: calls 1600
*** FLOP *** [9c Jh Ac]

SirFWALGMan: bets 16148 and is all-in
kaellinn18: folds
kaellinn18 said, "get your two pair?"
SirFWALGMan collected 22250 from pot
SirFWALGMan: shows [Jc Kc] (a pair of Jacks)
kaellinn18 said, "argh"
*** SUMMARY ***

SirFWALGMan said, "i had outs"
kaellinn18: folds
kaellinn18 said, "yeah"
kaellinn18 said, "that's what worried me"
SirFWALGMan said, "sorry but you gotta play hard to win"
SirFWALGMan said, "thats why I surf porn"

Against a good player that I respect I will apply pressure because I know they have athe ability to fold.

Some good Blogger and Wil bashing went on in this period of time. It was cool.

GRobman said, "who is wil?"
kaellinn18 said, "never heard of him"
SirFWALGMan said, "I just wish I could think like Otis"
GRobman said, "who is otis?"
SirFWALGMan said, "some clown fish that cant win anything"
kaellinn18 said, "would you people quit dropping these random names? we're trying to have a friendly game here"
kaellinn18 said, "otis"
kaellinn18 said, "wil"
kaellinn18 said, "who are these people?"
SirFWALGMan said, "My Boss Loves Wil"
SirFWALGMan said, "She wanted to do a Mrs. Robbinson on his Ass"

So like I was saying Grob disintigrates in like 10 hands. From 50K in chips to out.
I have around 36K in chips at this point.

Seat 2: TripJax (31689 in chips)
Seat 3: SERNE (42720 in chips)
Seat 6: SirFWALGMan (36148 in chips)
Seat 9: kaellinn18 (37943 in chips)

So it is basically tied up again and I have alot of work ahead of me. I invited Veneno to the table for some interesting side talk. Someone asked about the poison and Trip and I were glad to inform them.

SirFWALGMan said, "the bad suckout kind"
SirFWALGMan said, "its eeeirie"
TripJax said, "the stop beating me HU kind"
SirFWALGMan said, "she has mastered the suckout even more so than possibly Luckbox"
SirFWALGMan said, "she says her little thing, and WHAM, your Aces are no good"
SirFWALGMan said, ""BEWARE THE POISON""
SirFWALGMan said, "she is deadly"

at least I mentioned her blog:

SirFWALGMan said, "www.yosoyveneno.blogspot.com"
SirFWALGMan said, "her blog"

So I hang in there while TripJax and then kaellinn18 go out. Well played boys. It is then down to me and SERNE. Now I will say that Serne is a good player and I enjoyed (his?) play. However he got a little cocky and says on the table (paraphrased because I cant find the exact chat):

Serene: I play 500/NL. I am not worried about you.
SirFWALGMan: Ya, well, I play 500/NL with my $200 bankroll so that does not impress me!

So we go on break and Iggy tells me to shut up, stop chatting, and win this thing. Umm.. Ok. Damn drunk dwarves. So I settle down. I win the final table in like 5 hands. I would like to say it is because I played so well but truth be told I got a bunch of Ax hands in a row and was able to keep my superior hands from losing. I forced Serene to play for all of (his?) chips whenever I liked my hand. Why? Because if he was a great a mighty 500/NL player then I could remove some of his skill by making it a pre-flop/flop game. I also favor being aggressive HU. I have already made a bunch of money so I am going to push hard and your going to have to not make a mistake. Anyway, I beat (him?) very easily and took home my first WWDN. Like I said it had nothing to do with Serene and more to do with the cards. I respected Serene's game alot. Good game to everyone. I look forward to seeing if I can make it 3 for 3 on Thursday. Thanks for all my Railbirds and Bloggerdom rooting me on. I appreciate it more than you can know.
