Aggression
So I was having a normal night, you know, QQ vs 77, out of my MTT.. couple two outer rivers.. that kind of stuff. Even misplayed a hand or two and got lucky and sucked out. So I am down to 10$ on one table and I make a decision. I am going to practice aggression. So I decide if I am going to play two cards I am going to raise. I am also going to c-bet. The idea is two fold. Not unique. JJ calls it Wes style. Basically it makes me do two things. Either have good cards or have good position. I am not too interested in raising KTo in EP where I limp with it sometimes. It also makes me stick to good position with hands like 24h, etc..
So what did I learn? I am not sure. It worked well. I went on a +60$ run in a very short time. Somewhat due to cards. Partially due to JJ. Also I took down alot of 2$ pots that were 1-3 way with semi-bluff c-bets. I was willing to drop these hands if I got resistance but more times than not people just folded flops when an Ace or King hit. Those hands allowed me to add $10 to my stack and when I hit a nice hand with JJ I was able to take full advantage and stack him good.
I will continue to experiment. I think it takes HUGE reads on your opponents to pull this off. Some people will just never fold. You need to identify the right people to play this way against. Especially at the donkey-call-with-any-pair level of Poker I am stuck at.

Cauwel, are you crazy? This dude is a walking talking ATM that keeps zero track of his play, other then what you read here.

Waffles is a perfect example of why poker takes self-control to play and win over the long-term.
Bless you for blogging, pure entertainment.

Whats wrong with this post Drizz? You going through a mid life crisis or something?
Cauwel, of course I keep track. I bought Poker tracker years ago. Actually amazingly enough I am ahead on the poker front. Not by the huge amounts of money I think I should be but ahead both in live and online play.

Sound logic, after I flamed my bank roll in July, I went back to Sklansky and Harrington and reinforced what poker philosophy is:
"Aggressive for small pots, avoid big conformations over large pots on marginal calls."
I get annoyed with your legion of whinners that leave comments that overuse these 3 terms:
Bad Beat;
Variance; and
2 Outer.
These terms should not be in anyone's poker vocabulary, they are just terms to justify poor poker decisions, over aggression and poor basic strategy.
I never use these words and when I crash I know it is from poor decisions or over aggressive play that is inconsistent with the basic writings on poker strategy.

Read your "I'm quitting for a week post" from Sunday and you'll see what's wrong.
Trying to insult me however doesn't help anything.

Is any blogger (poker or not) more thin-skinned than Waffles? You can get a new job easily enough, can you get a new life?
ANON
p.s. You are 36 years old, dude, act like it.

I tilt.
I get pissed off.
I definitely make mistakes.
Everyone does. Its the duration and degree of your tilt/anger and how you deal with it is how you could differ yourself from other players.
I don't blame/flame others who are trying to help. Stop treating poker like its a game to be conquered by pure skill.

How are any of your comments over the past few weeks "Helpful". Your like a retarded Yoda.. Mmmm.. Poker is the thing of life force young padawan" "You must feel the force". You make these one liner comments and that helps? I think you just like to tweak me whenever you get a chance. Keep pretending to be either superior or helpful neither of which you are or IMHO intend to be.

How many bad beats in a row would it take for you to retire for good?

Waffles, why are you letting people get to you lately? You're usually better than this at ignoring people.

Um, what's a c-bet? I'm serious. I have no clue.
1:54 PM
c-bet = Continuation Bet
1:56 PM
Oh, it's continuation bet. Um, continuation isn't THAT big of a word, is it?
