Stupid Comments

I was going to relax for the week but I might as well flame a few of the comments I have gotten recently. Who knows maybe it will put me in a better mood.

First off I have been getting a lot of comments about the hand where I had a FLOPPED straight and went all in against three other players. The interesting comment was about how I should think through my hands before I act. Let us break this down. I flopped a straight. I had the shizz nutz. If I thought about the hand the best scenario I can have is a guy overplaying AA/KK. This is actually what I thought I had and I was wrong. In that scenario I am a 94% favorite to win this hand. Now the other slightly lower probability scenario is someone had raised in ep with 66 or 44 or something. In this case I am 67% to win this hand. So worse case scenario I win this almost 7 out of 10 times. Best case I win this around 9 out of 10 times. I am getting 3-1 on every dollar I put into this hand. How can anyone say that I should fold? Even if I put the guy on the best hand possible I am getting 3-1 on a hand I win 7 times! I am fucking going to be rich!!!! I make $525 for every $75 I invest. Something like that. I suck at math. There is no way in hell I should ever fold this. This hand was played perfectly by me. I rule.

Now lets turn to last nights hand. Mr. Annoymous (Duggles? Slb?) said "What do you expect pushing with Jacks".. well, what I expected was one of three things. I would get called with a superior hand like AA/KK/QQ and be drawing to two outs. I hoped nobody had this. I would be called by a 50/50 race hand. Something like AK-KQ. In this case I would be racing for my life and hope that I would win the coinflip. The last scenario was all other hands I did not mention in which case I am 70-80% favored to win this hand. I got the best possible situation I could hope for and lost. So why push with Jacks? Well if you know ANYTHING about MTTs which apparently you do not when your stack gets low compared to the blinds you need to push with a good hand and hope for the best. Period. I had 5500 in chips and the blinds were 500. I got a VERY good starting hand in Jacks (Just as JJ) and I pushed. I made the best possible move and got the best possible call. A guy called off over half his chips with pocket 9's. Unfortunately he hit his two outer and won. Why I would not want to push as a 80%+ leader I am not sure. Why I would not want to push with a stack that was becoming alarmingly small I do not know. Why you know nothing about poker I could speculate on but I really can not understand.

So that is it for my idiot rant of the day. I think it worked. I am feeling better already. Someday if you get to be good as me (and I am not very good) then you might understand. Until then keep losing money and chasing deposit bonus's and leave the poker to the professionals.

Wasn't me.

I did see you push with 89c for $100 after you hit an eight with no clubs, even though there was a king on the board. Too bad your opponent had AA.

Why didn't you blog that one?

Actually it was 50.. Never said I never made mistakes or did not get frustrated and do stupid things.. However I am still a much better player than you ever will be. Keep selling your comics though, at least you can make money in poker that way.

One other thing, when did your life become so pathetic that you need to follow me around? I mean I thought the whole comic thing was kinda stupid but this is beyond pathetic.

You accused me of doing something I didn't do.

You leave me out of your loser shit and I'll stop defending myself.

I was more asking..

However how is following me around like a lost puppy defending yourself? Also was that not BEFORE this last post? Since I have not played since yesterday I beleive that is true. So you are traveling back in time to follow me around like some loser to defend yourself. Wow! Alot of effort for me. I am honored.

When I heard you were tilting on a $100NL table, I wanted to watch the inevitable train wreck.

Thanks for not disappointing.

Ok.. so you and your group of buddies have nothing better to do than watch me if I tilt? Do you circle jerk each other afterwards? I mean how pathetic is that? You have really fallen far my friend. Try a new hobby like shooting puppies.

I lost 1 buyin and quit. I think I have had better train wrecks than that man! Cmon! I still have plenty bankroll to tilt off so you and your friends can come by next week and watch.

Pathetic.

I would cry if I was you and spent my life writing comics nobody think are funny and circle jerking around a screen hoping people are going to tilt. Fuck you make my life look good.

JJ allin preflop? What the fuck you thinking.......only I'm allowed to win with that hand......period.

Bottom line is this. Take the break. You and I can go onto Yahoo and play some spades and talk shit to everyone who thinks that he should bet AK of diamonds while holding 6 of them is smart.......

And then jump over to hearts and put that Q of spades on any hapless soul practicing to go pro.

If you don't push JJ in your spot you are an idiot. If you get all your money in with a flopped straight, then that's all you can ask.

Suckouts happen more often than you can imagine. And god knows we all see it.

Happens.

Cry me a fucking river......you pussy. :)

And I have to say, I enjoy the hell outta your escapades. I by no means want to see you go broke. I need more stories and situations. Anyone who wants to see you bust is just trying to justify their successes and think they know what the fuck they are doing.

I want to win money, I want to bust people at the tables.

So go on a break. Come back fresh. Kick some tail. Get your money in with the best. Double up. Do it again. Build up and tell me about it.....cuz that's what I want to hear now.

Buhbye

Dude, your life makes everyone else want to cry.

But that's okay, because your poker game makes everyone else want to laugh.

Dude, here's a cold hard fact.

You suck at poker.

And it has nothing to do with how you play the hands. You do fine at that part.

But there's so much more to poker than that. One huge part is handling beats. You suck at that.

You honestly think that you're the only one that takes these kinds of beats. You think you are somehow especially unlucky or something.

EVERYONE TAKES THESE BEATS. EVERYONE TAKES THEM CONSTANTLY. IT'S A FUCKING FACT. YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL.

But you turn a $25 beat into a $500 loss. That makes you a bad player.

Period.

I must suck at life becuase I actually like duggle's comics.

And waffles, you should stop playing full ring games. If your hopes are to become a better player, you should be playing more shorthanded games. Shorthanded forces more marginal decisions, and will allow you to play loose or tight depending on the mix of players.

sirwafman,

i don't know the details about the JJ push in your MTT but, if there wuz a raise or even a reraise, it's likely a fold situation. if there wuz no action ahead of you and you were late to act, a 4x raise should do the trick. if you get a call and see a bad flop, you can still get away from it and go into pushmonkey mode from there.

re: flopped straight. if there's no flush draw on the board, i say get all your chips in there if you think you can get a call. if there is a flush draw, bet the pot and take it from there.

i'm no expert pro player but, that's how i'd play those two situations.

just reread my prev comment. in the JJ hand, if there's a standard raise ahead of you, i might just call if they play solid starting hands or reraise to see how they react preflop if i think they're weak/tight and i can get them to fold. if the flop's bad, you can bail. you'll be shortstacked but, you'll still be alive and kicking.

ok duh, i just scrolled down and saw the hand history in the JJ hand. even if you make a standard raise 4x, you're probably gonna go broke with your JJ on that flop. you just got unlucky.

"This hand was played perfectly by me. I rule."

And exclamations like these are what gets you in trouble.

Until you start realizing this, your poker game will mirror a dog chasing his tail.

One week of "I rule"
Next week "I suck, I tilted, I give up"
Next week "I played 93o and won $3,000,000!!"
Next week "I lost $3,000,000 on a flopped two pair, this game sucks"

When you learn to control your emotions THAT's when you'll become a complete card player.

Good luck Waffles.

Dude, I am no longer Anonymous King. I have an account now and am proud of it, so I'll use it at first chance always and forever. I would have played your hands the same way anyway, so no need to dispiute anything there.
My IM's to you yesterday were genuine and only written for the purpose of perhaps putting a small smile on your face after a rough weekend.
See you at the tables next week.

Waffles,

I'm someone you have never met, I just read your blog, and wanted to put you on "comment tilt". Hmmm, really wasn't very hard to do. I think you have some game, but like most of the others have already said, you really need to take yourself less seriously, and enjoy the game more. Or more Asian hookers. Your choice.

Smokkee are you smoking? heh. Only reason I pushed again is because I am <10 BB, 500 blind, 5K stack, any raise I make commits me and nobody had raised before me.

either way, you're going broke in that hand. you just got unlucky. you want that call against your overpair all day long.

pushing screams weakness. i see more players fold to a 2x raiser UTG because they're afraid of AA or KK trying to get value. how often do you see players push their whole stack (10x BB) in the middle with AA or KK?

i used to come over the top of those 2x/3x raises to find out they were sitting on a monsters. i'm always suspicious of the 2x preflop raise in EP. try it sometime, you'll be surprised the respect you get late in a tourney.

I suck at poker, but I agree you made the right moves. It's beats like these that keep me away from cash games. I was simply losing too much jamming with good hands only to be crushed on the turn/river. The same beats happen in SNGs and MTTs but I don't lose nearly as much since I only play $5 and $10 buyin games. So the most I'm losing is that, not $50 at the $50NL tables. When I'm down in the dumps, I go play heads-up. It's not so boring as you're in every hand, the games don't last that long and at $10 the competition is weak. And if I'm saying it's weak, then it's really friggin weak.

Oh yeah, what's the deal with you and duggles? Wacky.

Waffle, I'm going through some tough times at the table too. I've said it before to you and on my blog that you have the correct analytical mind for poker and your willingness to fly in the face of conventional wisdom is to be applauded. Your emotional reactions, though, are going to follow you, and you are going to put yourself on this bankroll building-bankroll dismantling loop until you get it in check. Bad beats do happen. They are sometimes brutal. They are also inevitable. If you are going to be ahead 80/20 ad infinitum for the rest of your poker career, you are still going to lose 20% of the time. Do you really want to tilt every 5th hand, or 5th session or 5th week or even 5th month? You need to work on accepting the losses. Once you do that, you will be more free to enjoy the game. I offer this as a word of advice. Whatever the case, hearing about your losses does tend to bring a schaudenfreude smile to my face, so either way, I'm a winner!
