On The Veggie Thing

I often think that Veggie people are right on about some of their points but totally over the top on others. For example the latest PETA blog was reminding us that meat is contaminated with all kinds of bacteria. I can agree with that but not as a reason not to eat the meat BECAUSE the majority of food contamination cases I have heard about are FROM FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. Now I am guessing this is because meat is usually well cooked and fruits you just kinda wash and eat. So when the dirty fruit pickers piss in the field and then grab your fruits they pass on all of their disgusting germs. Has anyone else noticed that fruits and vegetables are more often the cause of food bacteria? Is this a plot by the meat industry to hide their cases? Should the veggie people stick to better facts like health and humanity reasons? Do you fucking give a shit?

I just wonder what will happen if we all stop eating meat. What will happen to all the cows? Doesn't anyone ever think of all the cows? Cows wandering the streets is a scary thought. How many veggie people have ever considered this. Everyone stops eating meat. Farmers stop caring for animals, cows, pigs and chickens are reintroduced to the wild...not pretty.

For some reason, I found this post to be extremely hilarious. It's all conspiracy.

Interesting point, but there are so many cases of food poisoning, e. coli, and salmonella, that come from meat and seafood. Several veggie-related outbreaks have come out recently, but there has been a consistent stream of meat-related illnesses due to the bacteria in it, not even including the health problems it creates: http://www.goveg.com/healthconcerns.asp

Not to mention, PETA has a million other reasons why meat consumption is bad for you, the animals, and the environment. Check them out here:

Lianne - the most consistent stream of food poisoning on the planet comes from improper food handling. Period. No amount of propaganda can change that.

Washing ALL food is the best way to prevent food poisoning. Food grown outdoors will always risk being exposed to foodborne pathogens.

Nature is dirty. Animals poop. They aren't clean about it. Bears do poop in the woods, the fields and in your own backyard. Their poop contains icky things. It's on your lettuce. Wash the lettuce. A bird may have flown over and pooped on it. Bird poop is REALLY bad for you. So is bat poop. They poop while flying. It get onto everything. Rats, mice, rabbits, squirrels and deer poop. This poop is every where. It contains bad things too. Fish poop. It's in your sea weed salad.

Seriously. I'd wash EVERYTHING.

PeTA is a propaganda machine that has proven time and again to distort the truth for it's own benefit. This is unfortunate since it can no longer be trusted as source of anything accurate.
