WWDN

So/so night. I finished 18th in the WWDN, which while respectable, is not exactly where I wanted to be. Congrats to Maudie and Jewels for first and second! Well done ladies.

I almost made the final table. I pushed with a small stack with AT s000ted and got called by AJ. I have no idea why you people refuse to lay down your weak Aces to aggression. Instead you insist on calling off 50%-100% of your remaining chips with these hands. It is a –EV situation at best IMHO but keep playing that way I need the money. Keep paying attention. Keep calling the guy who plays the least hands at the table. Keep calling the one who hardly ever steals blinds. Keep it up. It helps me in the long run. I actually out flopped my opponent but Riverstars came through and slapped a Jack on to the end. If I win that hand I am for sure at the final table.

I played a little 2/4 LHE and a couple more MTTs. I think I was too tired for the MTTs because I did not play well at all. Oh well. I did make back everything I lost on Stars playing LHE. So far 2/4 has been my sweet spot. I would like to win some at 3/6 but it has not happened yet.

Veneno was hanging around so I tell her I will play some LHE with her. She says she is grinding away. So I go to sit at her table and she is playing 6-max. It may suit her better. I convince her to step down to a full table. Nothing was available at .50/1, so we jumped into a .25/.50 table. Veneno was not in the mood to listen to any advice. She constantly called my pre-flop raises with Kx s00ted rags and crap like that. Her rating in Poker Tracker (not surprisingly) is LA-(A/P). Depending on her mood. Loose is an understatement though as I have her seeing 49% of the flops. Wow! Veneno if you are going to be serious about LHE you need to stop this. It will NEVER be profitable. Sure you may get a night when all the flops hit you but long term you are doomed. Finally I had to quit giving her advice since she ignored me anyway.

Someone send her a copy of SSHE. Please! She needs to get her pre-flop game down solid before learning to play post flop. I think she can do it. She is a smart and tough player. The question with her is if she wants to take it seriously. The concept of playing boring, folding, poker, may not appeal to her LAG personality. It may not be a fit. So Veneno, decide what you want to do. If you like LHE then tighten up. If you get bored or distracted play something else. Not everyone is cut out for the game. I beleive in you V, but only if you really want to play the game.

Oh, and I was running pretty goot at that .25/.50 table. Something like 44/BB 100. Nice! I wonder if I could maintain that rate. I could make fifteen bucks every night! Woo Hoo!

On for tonight: The Big-O Mookie Tourney. It is the best Donkey fest ever!

Is everyone that makes the right call against you a donkey?

yup. You know nothing is as annoying as someone leaving a stupid comment annonymously.

First off - I never called anyone a donkey. My question with these calls how often are you going to be ahead? I keep getting called by weak aces.. the scenerios that play out are as follows:

Most of the time I double up and your ass is out of the tourney.

Sometimes I have a weaker ace than you and you win. Less often.

Sometimes I have a stronger ace and you hit your 3 outer.

Sometimes I have QQ and I either double up or you hit your 3 outer.

Basically what I am saying that when you call an all in with a weak Ace your asking for trouble. Pushing with one is fine with me. Aggression is poker and I understand that. I do not understand when people are asking to get stacked. It just baffles me.

Two quick points, Waffles:

1. Hot DAMN I would love to be at a nlh table where someone was insisting on seeing 49% of flops. Wow! What a fishfest of blind- and limp-stealing that would be. I've had very profitable nights and tourneys with even up to 30, 35% of flops seen. But no way anyone makes money seeing half the flops. Sheesh.

2. Everything you said in your post and in the comment above this one is true. People who call an allin with weak Aces -- heck, even with AT or AJ (sooted or otherwise) or just asking to be felted, period. And Waffles, you or me are just the type of guy to give them what they want aren't we?

Hopefully see you at The Mook tonight. Still at 95% that I play.

Weak logic. Two things to consider that you glossed over from your spot on the bully pulpit:

1) You're short-stacked; you said so yourself. Give someone credit for deciding that you might be on a bit of a steal when you have less-than-premium cards in that situation.

2) The other person might have been short-stacked as well, and that would create even more incentive to take a shot with a hand that might not be the best. My own exit, about the same time as yours, is a prime example:

I had a crappy A-10 on the button, and was staring at a min-raise from the chip leader UTG... thouugh he'd shown a willingness to get in there with a LOT of crap from any position. But my M was down to 5, and I wasn't likely to find a better opportunity at a table that was playing 7-handed --- maybe a 30% chance in a 2- or 3-way pot (with some dead money) versus taking my chances with any two cards in another hand or two. Poor odds either way, but you have to pick something and go with it.

By the way, I have no problem posting with my identity. (The first one wasn't me, btw.) So... flame away.

I appreciate and respect your comments CawtBluffin. I agree if you have your opponent well covered why not. I had enough chips to basically cover him. If he lost this hand he was out by the next blind.

We both would be considered smallish stacks because the blinds were 600.. we had 4K stacks if I remember right. Possibly thats why the call was made. However I would much rather call an all in with some sort of sooted connector than Ax. Just because one of the more likely pushing hands is Ax.

I will not speak for the person who I had this hand against. Because I do not know what his thinking was. However I see far too much of people saying "OOh, Look, a Pretty Ace! I have to call".

I will say it again too: I think the power of an AT/AJ hand is not necessarily in its ability to call an all in, but its ability to push all in and have outs if called.

I totally and 100% respect aggression. If you push against me with KJ and I decide to call you I respect the fact you played your hand hard. If he was the one who pushed I would have respected that too. I would actually never had been in the hand.

It just seems wrong to me to call off most of your stack with an easily dominated hand. It is how I play. Not the only way.

Dude, I am so pissed that you called my all-in last night with AK and then you sucked out to crack my Q5. What were you thinking?!?!?
