The Devil Wears Prada

Thanks for all the exercise advice. Blaaarggg must not be as dumb as he want's people to believe.. he is a sophisticated Yoga man of the people. I can see him in class "BLAAARGGGG NO BENDY!!! NO BENDYYY!!!". If you see pictures of me in yoga tights in the next few months you know who to kill.

As for PokerPeaker I respect his opinion a ton. He is a marathon machine and knows a lot about exercise. I am however not sure I can be overworked from walking like a mile a day.

I continue to feel beat though. I sort of wonder if I am having some kind of sugar withdrawal issue or something. I have been cutting way back. I usually drink 1 coke a day and that is all. I used to drink at least 3-4 a day, if not more, and it was not unheard of to drink a case on a weekend day. It is interesting that the past two Sundays I have felt the sickest. During the weekends I do not even drink a coke these days. The only other correlating factor is I exercised a little more than usual on both Saturdays. This Saturday I went on a hike in the woods. The boy and I probably did 3-4 miles including a nice climb up a hill that had me a little winded. I ended up picking up a tick on my travels too. I knew there was a good reason I wore jeans all summer.

As for the devil part of this post. I went into the car this weekend and sitting on the floor is a Prada bag and shoes. Now I do not begrudge any woman her shoes. I would be more than happy to buy my woman some Prada. Now it just feels like some bitch spending my money though.

Change your sleeping habits at all with the coke withdrawal? Less caffeine to keep you going, so if you don't sleep much to begin with, you'd feel it more.

Or maybe it has something to do with the amount of insulin your body is used to producing to break down the sugar in the coke. Get any more sugar cravings than usual? (cake, cookies, candy, etc?)

Or not enough fluids replacing the coke absence? More water perhaps.

Like I have any idea what I'm talking about.

Heh, I used to have some seriously crappy back problems - I did 2 things and have not had any since...

1. got a Herman Miller Aeron chair. I spend waaaaaaay too much time at computers and this thing is a frigging life saver.

2. Yoga. I have never been to a yoga class - I have no desire to dress up in pink tights and wave my fat arse in some young cuties face (not when I can do it at home and not get arrested cuz chloroform lasts for at least an hour and they don't remember a thing).
Since I surf (yes there's surf in NYC) I got the Yoga for surfers dvd, which is a fantastic workout/balance training/stretching routine in about 50 mins a day. You can do the first 10 minutes and still feel great all day.

Just keep doing what you're doing waffles. It takes a long time to overcome all of the damage you've done to your body over the years. I used to drink a liter of coke every single day, stopped cold turkey about 8 yrs ago and haven't had a drop since. It's not an addiction, but it is a very strong habit. Figure out when the urge for a coke is strongest and try to train yourself to do something else. I drank a ton of chamomile tea (god, I'm sounding pathetically effete right now, aren't I?) then changed over to water. Now I drink nothing but water (and waaaay too much beer - working unsuccessfully to cut the beer out now :)

Good luck dude.

Nice job on upping the exercise and downing the Coca-Cola! Despite how you're feeling now, your body WILL thank you once it's all out of your system. Some of your symptoms are probably as much mental as they are physical. Keep with it! And if you ever feel like buying some random woman some Prada... save your cash and take me drinking instead! (Scotch on the rocks; no carbonated beverages, just the good stuff!)

Keep up the hard work. You'll have your ups and your downs but in the end you wont struggle anymore.

You wont be in pain and you will live your life with some kinky sidekick that says "Good One Waffles!" as he hands you another fruity drink and types in "Nice play @$$face" in the chat window as you have 3 women massaging you and feeding you fruit.

Of course then you wake up nekkid in front of your chair with a six pack of schlitz instead of a six pack.

:-) Keep fighting!

I would not be overworked walking a mile a day, but you are doing a program that you've never done before, so for your body, it's more than a little, and you need to respect that. That's all. :)
