So Far..

The cooking experiment is going alright. The chicken and peppers and onions was great. The wheat linguine with turkey meat and pasta sauce kinda sucked. It just was wayyy too lacking in the flavor department. Need better pasta sauce or something. I actually had pork last night. The babysitter cooked it so.. it was alright. Had it with corn and mashed. Coke has been 0-1 a day.. so not bad.

Motivational level low. Kind of sucks as I feel I am in a bad mind frame. It's better than before but not on a real high note. Hopefully I can change that up. Peace.

Bit of salt and pepper flakes if you like heat.

Next time, put more salt in the water before boiling the pasta, as that's the only time you can get flavour INTO the pasta itself.

Eating healthier is good, but for me it doesn't really make me FEEL much better.

Exercise seems to work a lot better or faster to make you feel better physically. Dieting alone is a much slower process to feel in better.

And I am no fan of wheat pasta. Always been very blah to me.

You need to season the turkey meat more. Turkey meat can be pretty flavorless, so get a mixed seasoning (Italian would probably be the best, or Chili seasoning) and lay it on thick when you are making the meatballs.

Make your own gravy instead of relying on bottle stuff. Hell, I make a great red sauce and I don't even eat pasta

BTW, get a new captcha, this type sux

quick and dirty pasta sauce, better than anything in a jar:

1 can puree, 1 pound ground beef, red pepper flakes, oregano, basil, parsley, s/p

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. If it's fatty (less than 80%), drain most but not all the grease off. Pour in the puree. s/p to taste - it needs more salt than you think it does. Mix in all the herbs except half the basil. Put in the red pepper flakes - it needs less of them than you think. Keep at a simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes or so. Finish with the rest of the basil.

It takes a little time but you need pay only minimal attention to it, just stirring it every now and again. I swear to you the end result will be 10 times better than anything you can buy -- and, you'll be able to say that your sauce kicks Ragu's sad ass.

And Astin is right: cook the pasta in salted water and it will make it taste a ton better.

Good luck, flapjacks.

forgot to say: onion powder, garlic powder, and mix them with the ground beef as it's cooking AND after you put in the puree. Sorry for the omission.
