Crazy Man

I wrote a post a while back about how people have different winning styles. Now I am not sure this guy is a winner but his style was unique. He comes into my table and every hand he is in, every flop he bets 10 bucks for the most part. People are folding to him. He does it so many times that people get pissed. However, if someone shows massive aggression he backs off. He even had me pissed enough to go for a flush draw.. oh wait.. Anyways.. he does this for a little and finally someone decides to teach him a lesson. They bet a huge amount and he goes all in taking the pot. He then leaves. Interesting strategy. He netted 250 bucks in fifteen minutes. I had about 2 in an hour and ended the night down a buyin to a Q high flush suckout on the river. Obviously this could be a high variance strategy but it does have a few things going for it. People get put off there games. He does it when he first sits, before anyone knows his plan. It must be high variance, but interesting anyway.

I think I've seen the person you're talking about. He's been winning everytime I spot him at the tables.

Turn the game upside down. Start following HIM around and playing back at him.

I saw someone play back at him, he'll push once you do. At that point you're playing bingo rather then poker.

I got to beat a guy like this once. I flopped an Ace high straight and he bet it all the way. He lost at least $300 on that hand and promptly left the table.

All you can do is wait for big hands.

I've seen players like that too. I think patience is the key. To quote sir Brunson of Doyle:

'at a tight table play mostly loose, at a loose table play mostly tight'.

Since people like that (and there is more than one - I see them on fulltilt.com & ultimatebet.com) come in on nearly every hand, they effectively *are* the table.

One thing they tend to do by reraising, even preflop, is make it cheap to see a lot of flops - since people will not bet much for fear of losing their 3-4xBB to an insane-o 20xBB preflop reraise.

I popped one of those mutha's for 3 buy-ins within a 15 minute period. Felt damn good after folding a lot of bets to the maniac the night before. Made up for how sucky he made it feel to be playing poker.
