Well, Day One: Goodie!
Quick post. Played NL tonight. Decided on only playing until 11:30 every night and only losing one buyin. Not sure if the second one is a good idea. Might change my mind. However I ended up not starting until 10:30. I was patient and got no hands and ended up down a few bucks. I left. I am proud of myself. Now if I can just do that 365 days a year..
I also have to say I have Party Pokers new blind structure. It does make me want to steal the flop alot less though. I mean who cares anymore. I think it sucks though. We should get a letter writing campaign going!!

I gotta agree, I hate it too. Of course I dropped 75 bucks in about 40 hands so that maybe why!

I saw you comment in my Email and figured you were commenting on my NL hand with Sean, heh.

I am not angry at the 100BB buyins. That is fine. I could care less. The thing that bothers me is they cut the blinds in half. It used to be that stealing the blinds while not a great source of income at least made you some money. Especially if you had lets say QQ, and 2 people limped with weak hands before you. Now instead of making 1.75 with a nice hand your making .85. Bah! It seems like it makes limping a little more worth it.. Not sure. Anyway, I do not like it.

Uh, they didn't cut the blinds in half, they raised the max buy-in for the blinds.
You are still capable of buying in $25 at a .25/.50 table, it's just that the max buy-in is now $50.
:)

Why would you "jump for joy" when they made the place just like everywhere else? Who the fuck likes the same thing everywhere? If you liked the blind structure somewhere else, GO PLAY THERE. Some of us liked having a choice.
All I know is it made the $25PL game completely pointless, and that was my favorite game there.

I really didn't see much of a change in play except my $3 pre-flop raises seemed a bit extreme for the .10/.25 blinds and the same raise got no respect at the .25/.50 level.

Buying in for half at the bigger table is no good, because the idiots clump at the $25 tables, and those are the flounder we are after.

Ahhh.. I am soo confused. So in (any) NL game the blinds are a reflection of the max buyin? 'Cause I used to buyin for $25 and get .25/.50 blinds. Now I buyin for the same and get .10/.25 blinds. So if I want the same experience I had before I should go to the $50 tables? I do not understand how they set the blind price. I thought it was just arbitrary, so in effect they cut my blind in half? What am I missing?

BTW, I think I am going to make a new record for stupid comments per day this week.

In any NL game, you always want to see what the blinds are in relation to the max buy-in. Some examples:
* Old Party structure was 50 big blinds. So, the $25 max tables were .25/.50, the $50 max tables were .50/1.00, etc.
* In AC, smallest limits are 1/2, max buy-in 300. So you have 150 big blinds.
* In LA, smallest limits are 2/3, max buy-in 100. So you have 33 big blinds.
I love playing in AC, and the reason why is that when you have 150 big blinds in front of you, you can put someone to a decision for lots of chips. In a game like the LA game, with only 33 big blinds, you're usually all-in by the turn (sometimes even the flop) and it takes away a lot of the power you have to charge draws and to cause your opponents to make tough decisions.
More big blinds favors better players, because when you have fewer blinds, the decisions become more elementary and it is not as easy to bluff.

I'm with Sir on this one. The other good reason for the 25c/50c blinds was you only needed for limpers for the pot to get raked - wihch is good when you are trying to work off a bonus. I was playing there last night and a $1 bet scares off way more people than it used to.
Going from 25c/50c to 10c/25c isn't really a huge difference, but it is different.

I posted my few initial thoughts on my blog... and after thinking it over some more today, and seeing the comments here, I'd have to say I favor the change. If nothing else, it gives us small time wanna-be's a cheaper option at the $25 tables.

You know, if you all played at UB, where it's been like this all along, then you all wouldn't be freaking out over this so much.
*runs away*
8:05 PM
That's kind of my point April...if I wanted to play like this, I'D PLAY AT UB!!
4:31 AM
I need to play more at UB, that bonus has cobwebs growing on it.

Someone said up above..
Buy in for $50.00 and you will get your .25/.50 blind experience.
I personally like it cuz I am used to it at UB and, i can fold more hands while working the bonus off..
