Blame CC

If you get bored at work because I dont post for the next month it is all CC's fault. Fucker pushed in on the first hand of the "Big Game" with a 30% favorite hand and sucked out on me. Good job man. Those pair of tens are a great push in a deep stack on the very first hand. Nice flush though. Figures I flop a monster set on the first hand of the game. Make the right read that he does not have a flush and lose to his all in push with a pair of tens and an Ace high flush draw. Not sure what chance I had in this but would have been alot of fun to play more than one hand.

Oh and thanks for being amused at my misforture Absinthine.. It really gave me alot more respect for you. Glad you lasted two more spots than me. Although I really meant it when I said I hoped you bubbled.

Stop crying. You made a terrible all in call on the first hand and got punished. No one to blame but yourself.

It's not your misfortunes that are hilarious, SirF, it's your reactions to them. One has no control over the former and every responsibility for the latter. Do you see why?

I think my reaction to CC was pretty tame.. "Nice call CC" or some small snide remark and that was all..

I am glad my reaction makes you happy though. Go kick a dog while your at it.

...and then I made one small snide remark in an undeniably transient forum, and you predictably couldn't let it lie. Which, again with the being hilarious.

I took your comment as meaning it was funny I busted out on the first hand which I do not think I misunderstood.. obviously I am not going to be happy that you said that.

anyways man.. I wont hold this against anyone tomorrow.. Just need to get the dissapointment out of my system..

Excuse me for being passionate about poker. Someday I may be dead about the whole thing but it doesnt sound all that appealing to me..

Not sure why anonymous thinks your call was so terrible: unless you believe the guy is pulling an overbet for value, it likely represents a draw with overcards - there are a lotta people who bet that way. Yes there are a lot of hands that beat, but the odds of him having two spades or better sets were low.

You got your money in way ahead, but unfortunately there is no reloading in an MTT. That's why I generally don't look for my double up on hand one of a deep stacks, but you've played with cc a lot and I can believe it when you say you had a read on his hand.

I seriously can't go a month without this site - it's like my favorite adult viewing site; something i depend on to brighten the day.

since I already talked to you about the hand in chat, I will just say that although you went out first, at least you have Gigli bragging rights. My 20th place finish warrants no such award and I finish with the same money as you. So in a weird twisted sort of way, you actually won. Kinda.

You were a gentleman, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to convert. You outplayed me and I got lucky as I didn't put you on that big a hand.

I didn't play, but logged onto FTP to check the status early on. I saw Sir out and CC doubled up.

I very muched looked forward to Monday morning in a somewhat morbid fascination.

Shrug it off fwalg, there's always next time.

Waffles consistently doubles up early in these MTTs more than anyone I've seen.

This, unfortunately, is a side effect of that style of play. Yes you always have a very strong hand when you put all your chips at risk early, but occasionally you are going to get beaten. It's just bad luck that this time it was in one of the larger buy-in events.

You played it right, got your money in as a 70% favorite, and got the short end of the stick. It happens.

I liked the Waffles of old better. When did you start caring so much about what people typed in the girly chat box?

Hey, Woffle. Here is a thought, although maybe not one you want to consider. Is it ever worth taking that chance (even if you are ahead) early on in a deep stack tournament for all your chips? On one hand, doubling up early would be nice. On the other, it isn't like doubling up late in the tournament, when it matters a whole lot. They've talked about this a lot on CardPLayer's the Circuit, and some players (myself somewhat included) believe that doubling up early is not that important and is not worth the risk of busting out. The reason is that by doubling up, you will have 2/39ths of the chips in play, which still isn't that significant of an edge overall.

That said, I'm not saying your call was wrong. But you knew you were in a situation where one flush card could spank you, even if you were currently ahead.

Its worth considering J.. However how often do you get in a hand where your a 70% favorite? I mean lets figure this out. Most people see alot of 80% fav hands.. and then 50%.. then they scream about the 50/50 hands..

Its not like I called all my chips off with AKo. I had a solid hand that was way ahead at the time. Even if a flush card comes I got 10-redraw outs to win the hand. If I fold there maybe I should give up poker.

Also the "deep" stackedness of this MTT has to come into question.. while 3000 chips is more than FT usually starts you with its not a huge amount..

I can not see myself laying down that hand with the cards face up and looking at myself in the mirror the next day..

I did ask people what they thought about the hand and the one valid point was I COULD have been behind.. I made the right read and was not but the only reason to fold there is I could have been behind.

hey waf,

that's a tuf spot to be in. CC overplayed his hand and got lucky. being a pushmonkey myself, i don't mind the call. you're obv a big fav there. but, unless you flop the absolute stone cold nutz, you're hand is vulnerable. once the call is made, anything can happen.

Quit crying you little bitch. Insert your tampon and stop the bleeding. If it went the other way I would be reading about your great play. What are you doing committing all your chips on the first hand of a tournament anyway? Fuck the read you had you always know there is a luck factor out there if you have anything less than the stone cold nuts. You are playing against BLOGGERS!!!! people that regularly shove mounds of chips in against each other with the worst starting hand in poker.

Now shut up, suck it up, let your testis drop again and be a man...

I love you and miss you.

Unfortunately for Waffles, I think CC pushed on the flop (and I don't hate that move at all, put the pressure on the opponent with a shit-ton of redraws.) It just didn't turn out well for Waffles.
