HU Challenge: Round 1

Wow. What a weird one. I played Willy Wonkah in the HU challenge. Go to the HU Challenge board for more information. You can also go to Willy Wonkah's board and taunt him. Just Kidding! He played aewsome!

I do not want to give away too much of my strategy HU, but I felt I both played a great game AND got extremely lucky. Both can happen. Here is a weird hand though. First hand of our HU. I get dealt T2o. We both limp. Feeling each other out. The flop is T2K. YES! I am going to get him. So I bet. He raises. I re-raise, we end up all in on the first hand. Now in retrospect I am not sure either of us should have been all in with two pair. KT was a real possability. We both flip, and we BOTH have T2. UB is RIGGED! heh.

So match one lasts a while until I call min raise or 3-bet with J3o. Why? In HU I like to be aggressive and I do not allow myself to be pushed around. The flop is K33. Sweeeeeeet! Before I can figure out how to make the most of this hand Willy is raising me. So I re-raise, we end up all in, and I win. WOOT! On to the next match.

This one was not even close. The cards kept hitting me well, every flop was good until he was down to 500 chips. I then just applied pressure every hand. When he was down to 300 he pushed with Q9. I hit a straight with AT, and he rivers a flush.

On we go. I keep the pressure on. I get pocket jacks. We are all in again. I flop a set, and barely after I can get the victory yelp off my lips, he rivers a straight. @&*#@&*&@. What do I have to do in order to get rid of him? I played T2 again, hit two pair, but he folded this time. Finally one of my hands held up and I took it.

Willy is an excellent player. Even though he kept telling me how bad he was. If I had one suggestion it would be to fold a little less. I was able to raise pre-flop many times in a row and never get a call, which inspired me to raise pre-flop more. In addition I was able to raise pre-flop alot, and if any high card was on the board, take down the pot by betting it. Some of this could be because he was cold decked in the second game, but I think in HU you have to take a few more risks, and you have to be more aggressive. My 2 cents to a worthy foe.

I read Willy's blog..the only thing I could find regarding the HUC was posted prior..

"Looking at my first round match up, I was relieved to see that I got paired up with SirWALGMan because that guy can't beat anybody heads up. It seems that everybody and their mother is beating this guy Heads Up."

Guess you found someone you could beat..lol
