The Future of Blogs

I think the demise of blogs is highly over estimated.

Not every blog has mad writing skillz behind it. We all can not be Dr. Pauly, Iggy or AlCantHang.. However in essence these are not who we should be. I read there blogs and enjoy the writing style.. I feel I can laugh with Al's mad antics or sympathize with his liver and get the latest poker news from an Iggy Uber post or be amazed at how a drugged up super hipster like Pauly can wring so much meaning out of the English language. These guys are not why I blog though.

The blogs that inspire me to keep going are the ones I can relate to. Perhaps a guy writes about having a bad day or tilting off some funds or grinding away at the kiddie tables. He may not have the flair of a lot of writers out there but I can relate to his experiences. I feel like I am not alone out there. I know other people blow bankrolls or struggle with the game. I know I am not the only one who has sucky days. Our struggles are shared and that is the essence of what life is about.

It is really what we are all looking for in one way or another.

It will be great to meet more of you in the annual pilgrimage to the Mecca city of Vegas. Catching up with old friends. Enjoying a few beers. Traveling 5000 miles over a weekend is not a hell of a lot of fun but it is so worth connecting with people on a different level. Putting faces to the nameless comments and endless girlie chats. I will be flying in around midnight on Friday night.. It seems like the place to meet is the MGM with festivities trickling off to other parts later.. You know your dead money when so many Poker players MUST have you there. Looking forward to it!! Until Friday.

Great post. I agree 100%. I surf the blogs and try to find those who I can relate too. The blogs you mentioned are entertain I agree, but also difficult to connect to from time to time. I enjoy the short quik posts as well as the longer ones that take time and effort to read. Luckownage was one of the first blogs that I ever found and I am still hooked.

Thanks for this post. I really enjoy blogging and reading blogs, but have never claimed to be a writer or huge strategest. Sometimes I wonder if my random philosophical musings on my game, out of character wins, or bad beat stories are lost among the masses of truly great writers and contributors of true knowledge, but maybe there's someone out there that finds the way I write conducive to the way they read and what they want to see in a blog.

Have a blast in Vegas, and hopefully someday I can hit one of these things up.

When it comes to writing posts that people can relate to, you do it better than anyone.

Blogs are still gay.

Will we be treated to a Waffles rant in Vegas?
