Advice
I told the kid he could probably go see the movie Ted. Now the kid is 13 years old. He swears like a truck driver. I read the synopsis and have seen a few of the scenes. Nothing looks appropriate but then again nothing looks all that bad. So should I let him see his first rated R movie?

With X-rated parents, what the problem?
The premise seems lame enough to get a 13 year old's giggles. Looks like the problem is language and you seem to doubt he'll be learning anything new.

Yes he should see the R rated movie but NOT he should not be swearing like a truck driver! OMG! He should have summer camp at my house - he'll return a saint. erm, your wife may not like it though.

That's about the same age I started letting my kid watch R-rated movies. I'd much rather he watch a movie that involves a little sex, drugs, and drinking than one with graphic violence. Let him have a laugh and something to brag to his buddies about.

He has watched R-Rated movies with a little violence like a few of the Resident Evil movies... I did not think they were too graphic or bad.. I refuse to let him see anything with real sex or nudity. He will have a lifetime to surf porn.. Swearing and sexual innuendo I think are alright... I was second guessing myself a bit though.

I have no idea what movie you're talking about. My sister let's the kids watch most things that are rated-R like resident evil and moat zombie/ horror flicks as long as they are to graphic. Guess it depends in the kids maturity level. The little one is 4 and her favorite show is the walking dead. Whenever we play Barbies one is a zombie.

Funny thing is they aren't allowed to watch ICarly?! She says that's to much attitude, doesn't want the girls to think its okay to talk back.

What the hell. I don't worry about my daughter, 14, when it comes to that kind of stuff. She's entering high school, ain't nothing that she isn't already hearing in the hallways and parking lot. Hell, she spent 7 years in parochial school so any language must seem tame to her by now. The old lady may not like it, I know mine wouldn't but as long as my kid behaves properly in all the right ways I don't worry about the blue nose rules that society pushes.

Fuck yeah.
I'll have my first born tatted and pierced before the age of 1 - smoking (crack) by 3 and singing I will always love you by 6.

I agree things like Resident Evil are probably okay. That's almost cartoon violence since it's monsters/demons and all that. I'm talking more realistic violence as entertainment type things like Natural Born Killers or American Psycho type violence.

Yeah I would never take him to something like that.. Karate movies, swearing, innuendo and stuff like that... no nudity, real life violence, etc..
