Cash Game Goot

Started my cash game career out on the right foot. Well if you count yesterday as the start then really on the right foot. I was playing a pretty solid game. Mixing it up. However the big money maker for me tonight was when my KQ made a higher straight then someone who had AQ.
It was one of those hands that just happen when someone has a great second best hand that costs them money. There is some good thinking on my opponents part but not good action.

Dealt to SirFWALGMan [Kc Qd]
onegoodplaya: folds
i like nuts: folds
SirFWALGMan: calls $0.50
davidson9966: folds
JamesM06: folds
jakep86: raises $1 to $1.50
MAYNARD46N2: folds
mikes10gs: folds
deweypost: folds
SirFWALGMan: calls $1

First off I think his raise is too small here.

*** FLOP *** [Td 3c Jh]
SirFWALGMan: bets $3
jakep86: calls $3

Now the flop misses him and he cold calls me. He is afraid he is behind. However the cards that could make him a hand might make someone a better hand.. hmm..

*** TURN *** [Td 3c Jh] [8d]
SirFWALGMan: bets $3
jakep86: calls $3

He calls again.. Calling in NLHE is death.

*** RIVER *** [Td 3c Jh 8d] [9s]
SirFWALGMan: bets $3

Now I made my straight. I should have bet bigger. I have the nuts. It feels good. Here is a major mistake my opponent makes.

jakep86: raises $6 to $9
SirFWALGMan: raises $47.65 to $56.65 and is all-in
jakep86 said, "nuts?"
davidson9966 said, "call and find out"
jakep86 said, "i got the Q"
davidson9966 said, "call"
jakep86 said, "i'm scared fo the QK"
jakep86: calls $47.65

He admits to be scared of the KQ, so why raise? Call my three dollar bet and call it a hand. Say nice hand Sir and do not pay me off. His first mistake is re-raising me. Now he has to make a tough decision. Instead he waits until the timer hits 1 second left and calls me. His thinking

*** SHOW DOWN ***
SirFWALGMan: shows [Kc Qd] (a straight, Nine to King)
jakep86: shows [As Qh] (a straight, Eight to Queen)
davidson9966 said, "ahh"
SirFWALGMan collected $126.05 from pot
davidson9966 said, "soory dude"
SirFWALGMan said, "you should have been scared"

So I think I controlled the pot size here and had someone call me down. I was allowed to hit my straight and then paid off bigtime. Do not play this way. I know it is hard to make the fold but do it.

The other thing I did was not lose money. The only hand I lost significantly over the blinds was the following hand. I do not know why the Poker Gods have taken such interest in me.. but they clearly like to teach me lessons over and over and over..

I think I lost as little as possible here. I could have folded the flop but is that too weak? It turns out I was ahead of the guy doing the betting and behind the one doing the calling. I ended up behind both of them as the A3o tard paired on the river.. So the straight guy took home a nice pot. How would anyone play this differently?

My second table was the opposite of my first. Possibly because it was infested with Blogger scum. However this made it very juicy after a while. I unfortionatly was unable to partake and ended up down ten bucks. Mostly due to ill advised bluffing against Drewspop. I think my river bet was the worst part of the hand.. because I had straight and flush draws all throughout. Drewspop also gave me plenty of chances to suckout on him for a tie or a win. Do not get greedy!

I had you drawing after the flop and the paired board didn't scare me when you only bet $5 on the turn. You knew I had a made hand based on my raise on the flop so if you made your boat, you would have pushed harder I thought. I was hoping to keep Blue in there for that bet and it did by not reraising. That was why I pushed on the end. I guess he could have made his boat and just called but I didn't see that. Wasn't trying to be greedy necessarily but I was pretty sure I had the hand.

Plus I suck at cash games and am a total donkey.

My 2 cents, which are worthless.

I rarely have the time to play MTTs, but yesteday I played a 180, $4 at stars and donked off 3 hours of work. I own my owe business, so this is like negitive $300 EV. I placed 13th, mostly since when I hit the money, people that work for me actually needed my help after 3 hours of self exile. I won $8.

Just before bed, I decided to play 1 orbit on a cash game, won $12 on my first hand (re-raise bluff with 5 9) and went to bed.

Ring = $, the mook/WWnD = fun.

Wow I finally agree with Wes, heh. Ya I played that hand terribly. Especially the river bet.
