Poker - I Didn’t even Know Her

Wahhhhh! I miss Poker. What a sadist I must be. Dominate me baby! Bring out those whips and chains. Beat me some more. I still miss her. StudioGlyphic why are you torturing me about 25/NL Blogger games!

I think a break is a good thing. If for nothing else just to prove I can go a week without playing. It has been a while since I have skipped a day. So now all I can do is surf around to other blogs and sniff the proverbial undies. *sigh*.

So while I am not playing I have some good questions. Anyone play O8 or Stud enough to know if variance hits those games as much. I would ASSUME that O8 is a variance nightmare! In that game you can get sucked out on 2x worse than Hold Em. Possibly 4x? I never was good at math. I would think stud might be more stable if you play your cards right. Anyone?

I got $5 that says you don't make it past Wednesday.

By the way, you should stay away. I'm up over $600 today. You must be bad luck.

Tuesday. $5 says he won't make it past Tuesday.

I'll let Felicia answer your question about O8 and Stud. But what she said about O8 at the micro-limits jives with my very limited experience. People don't fold and it's hard to make moves on them.

More variance in Stud. Less in low limit O8 if you solely play the nuts and the very best hands only. If you are playing more than 10% of hands outside the blinds, your variance will go way up. If you continue to draw to non-nut hands, ditto.

LL O8 is more about grinding out nut-nut hands.

I agree with Felicia. I've played about 5K hands of low limit O8, and the way to be profitable (from my limited time there) to is to be passive with only draws to the nuts. If you get too aggressive you will not push people off their runner-runner flush/straight/boat draw and could end up losing quite a few bets.

Check out a Krieger article/book, very decent advice there.

This is Krieger's book, also look up RayZee for a good 2 + 2 book on split games.
